QORIHC Crowns More Queens

QORIHC is the only Awards celebration of it's kind in Jamaica that rewards women for their contributions to various aspects of Entertainment and Jamaican Culture.

This year's staging took place at it's designated QORIHC home at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston. One thing was clear --it was all about honoring women and you could feel the love, respect, and appreciation each honoree had towards each other as they embraced and chatted as they made their way inside the venue and there were definitely some fangirl moments.

There was an ensemble of hosts this year namely Media Personality Soyini Phillips, Talisa Taylor CEO of Taylor Made Events & PR Management and Radio/ TV Host Shannon-dale "Khaos" Reid. This year's honoree included fourteen (14) women namely:

Leonie Forbes, Elise Kelly, Judy Mowatt, Cherry Natural, Scorpio 21, Kelly Upsetta, Cecile, Claudette Kemp, Shirley Willis, Lauren O Lauren, Keiva Di Diva, Stacey McKenzie, Coleen Douglas, and Tina Matalon

Each year there is a Tribute Queen who has served the Entertainment for several years and has received Internation and local recognition and this year it was Veteran Actress Leonie Forbes. Forbes gave a heartfelt acceptance speech and expressed that it is important to do what you love and sometimes your path will choose you like it did for her.

Other honorees of the night also shared their admiration and appreciation of the awards and how necessary it is for women to be recognized as they were often overlooked in an industry that is often dominated by their male counterparts. For International supermodel Stacey McKenzie, the award was her most prized possession and it means a lot to her to be recognized in her home country.

QORIHC 2019 honoree Tina Matalon was the chosen Guest Speaker who described being an honoree as "enlightening" explains it's all about connections with people and how we reach the hearts of Jamaicans through a special connection! She went on to express that:

As Marketers, we tell stories .. all of you beautiful people here tonight whether Actress, Poets, and Presenters .. you tell stories too. It is with the support of the talented people of the Entertainment Industry and people who have been able to bring these stories that we create to life and creating special moments.

She charged the honorees and guests to "stay in tune with the culture" as that is how she was able to develop the strong brands that we know as Pizza Hut and KFC.

Between the award, presentations were Entertainment by Alley Bless, Jevantae Campbell, Caution, Monifa, Racquel, Hezron, Stacia "Fya" Edwards, and high energy and humorous performance by Reggae Icon Carl Dawkins

The event ended with the closing remarks by QORIHC Conceptualizer Laurell Nurse where she expressed that "We are doing everything a man can't do in a man's world"

QORIHC continues to grow bigger and better with each staging.
