5 Trends that need to be left in 2018| #Blogmas Day 8

As we wind down to the close of another year it's time to get rid of clothes that can simply be deemed as "wack".

In 2018, we saw the rise of Streetwear as made popular by celebs like Kanye West who made the Calabasas style of dressing mainstream. This was also the year of the copycat where everyone not only looked alike but dressed alike -- some of these trends were cute while others were not!

Below are some of the trends that need to be left in 2018.

1. Biker Shorts

I personally hate this trend with a passion! I went to High School between 1999-2006 where we called these tights and wore them under our uniforms. This trend is super tacky and should be left for bikers with actual bicycles as it was made for them. I don't get why anyone would proudly wear an undergarment as a full outfit outside the house for all to see their "parts".

2. Chunky Sneakers

In Jamaica, we call these "Slow Boat to China" simply because they are as huge as a boat and can probably fit everyone in your family. These shoes were quite popular in the 90s ( I had the Airmax) and they somehow made their way to 2018 by way of brands like Chanel and Nike. They are huge, bulky and ugly and don't really go with anything!

3. Clear Heels + Mesh Stockings

Laawd! Whoever thought of this trend was seriously mistaking! Clear / perspex heels were all the rage this year and they somehow thought of paring them with mesh stockings. Sure it was cool and edgy for a hot minute but that's exactly what it is "a hot minute trend". If you are still wearing this, then sis you need to step your game up and let it go for the new year.

4. Latex + Vinyl

I remember a time when vinyl was left for floors and records, then Kylie Jenner stepped out in a dress and somehow made it cool! I imagine you can only wear this in cooler temperatures as it's a sweat trap and you would get hot and uncomfortable really quickly. Latex might look sexy but it can easily cross the cheap and tacky line. Let's leave the latex for gloves.

5. DIY Off-the-Shoulder Tops

I love a good DIY but not for tops and not all the time! There is a trend where ladies have been turning their tops into off-the-shoulder tops to create a "lewk". It works for some and not others and it's those others who make this trend redundant. A better idea would have been to purchase an actual off the shoulder top if you really want one.

The great thing about Fashion is that it's left up to whoever is wearing it! You might like something that I absolutely hate! This post is all in good fun and should not be taken seriously.

We have a small favor to ask.
