How to look Chic at the Diamond Mile –For Women

If you live in Kingston you would know Diamond Mile is one of the highly-ranked events on the Social Calendar for everyone who deem themselves a public figure or somewhat popular.

The Diamond Mile   has been dubbed as “the regions most lucrative and glamorous horse-racing event”, sponsored by the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries with a total purse of US $115,000 (over JMD$14 million) for 2018 and other races on the card will have $1 million and over.

Clearly this means there is a lot of money to be won – However, we here at The Haute Lifestyle is all about the Fashion and dressing up to look chic at the event slated for December 1, 2018.

Here are our tips on how to look chic at this year’s Diamond Mile (For Women)

One of the Fashion staple items for the Diamond Mile is Hats! Think British Royalty meets Southern Belle with a tups of Jamaican excitement but high-key boujee. No outfit is complete without the perfect hat as this will be the star of the show! We recommend a fascinator, a wide brim or something that really stands out and sets you apart. You can purchase in stores or opt to have it custom made from designers like Khalil’s Hatitude and Kloset, Lakeem Hats by Kahyee, and RoJoe Hats

The  Outfit

Best Dressed Male + Female 2017

One cannot simply wear just any outfit to the Diamond Mile, one must wear an outfit that commands stares!  I would say, get an outfit that is a happy medium between chic, sophisticated and unique but it should not look like you are trying too much. In some cases, less is more but for the Diamond Mile, a little bit more than less should suffice. Think of a look you are trying to achieve as opposed to just wearing something that looks good. There is a prize for the best-dressed female and male at the event which is a nice encouragement for you to dress up a bit. Stores we recommend are Keneea Linton Boutique, Shades of Africa and any of your favorite local designers.

Accessories + Shoes

With so much going on with your outfit and hat, accessories should be simple – seen and definitely not heard! Think of dainty pieces like small simple earrings, a nice watch or very small necklaces that you could possibly layer. Your accessories should complement your outfit and not compete with it unless the outfit and hat were tres simple, then you could opt for a statement piece. As it relates to shoes, this is the one day to bring out that designer pair of heels you’ve been saving for a special occasion. As for the make-up, keep it fresh, natural and popping! Keep away from bright, bold colors -- a red lip and simple eye look are always timeless.

Now armed with our 3 tips for looking chic at Diamond Mile, go.. have fun, dress up and meet new people! The event should be a great time!

We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure.
