Tips for the Perfect Date Night At Home

Dates are a crucial part of every relationship—they keep things fresh and interesting and your romance alive. However, not every date has to involve expensive movie tickets, dinners at an exclusive restaurant and long walks by the beach. Having a chill date at home is sometimes all you need to reconnect. So, here’s how to organize a perfect stay-at-home date!

Dress up

One of the best things about staying at home for your date is not having to do makeup, strapping yourself in tight clothes and wearing heels. But, that doesn’t mean you can stay in your sweatpants and look like two slobs! Instead, find a cozy middle ground and put on something nice yet comfortable and effortless. A pair of silk pajamas will also work!

Find a fun theme

Netflix and chips don’t really count as a date night theme, so try a bit harder to make your night special. Plan a fun activity for the two of you—maybe organize a horror movie marathon, game show night or an Italian themed date. Ready to go all-in with your theme? For instance, if you’re both fans of Big Lebowski, dress up as characters, mix some White Russians and chill with the Dude!

Set the mood

Since you spend so much time at home, try to make this night stand out, not only with your theme but also with the atmosphere! Your safest bet is to load up on candles, play some music during the dinner and perfume the place with some seductive smells. If you do this right, you’ll have a magical evening that will last long into the night. Sometimes, all you need to do is set the mood and your attitudes will instantly change.

Enjoy some tasty foods

Sure, ordering a pizza is the easiest way out, but if you want your night to be extra special, you can put in some effort and make an exotic dinner. Try to make your favorite meal, but put a surprising twist on it or try your hand at something new and sexy. Another thing you can do to boost the romance is preparing a meal you’ve had on your first dinner date or recreate those burgers from your favorite fast food place that you always visit after a night out!

Drink up!

If you don’t want to experiment in the kitchen and opt for takeout instead, you can still do something special for your date. Sure, beers are fine, but cocktails are even better! Check out some cocktail recipes (those with gin are super easy, cheap and tasty) and pick one both of you will like. The ingredients are usually very easy to find, often you don’t even have to take a trip to the liquor store. You can find amazing gin online and get it delivered straight to your house and into your glass! Try making a good old martini, or opt for something new and exotic, like gin-and-basil smash. These will give your date night a nice little zing.

Ditch your phones

Most couples often spend the evening on their own gadgets, doing separate things together and that’s totally fine. However, your date night should be reserved only for the two of you and not all of your social media friends! Ditch your phones and tablets, turn off your computers and don’t let the TV take over your entire evening. Leave tech out of your date night as much as possible and focus on each other. You can even sit by the window and watch the sunset or stay up to welcome the sun. There’s no better program than what nature has to offer.

Stay present

If you’re both a bit tired after a hard week at work, it can be very easy to just drift off and slightly ignore each other, especially with the TV and your smartphones. This is completely normal, especially if you’ve been together for a long time—it’s real life! However, you would concentrate during a fancy restaurant dinner, so why not do the same on your home date? Stay present, really listen to your partner, be romantic, hold hands and cuddle. This will transform your night from just another evening into a romantic date!

As long as you put in some effort, your date night at home will blow your mind and give you both the best time. And the best part is - you’re guaranteed to fall in love all over again!
