Home Remedies to remove DARK under eye circles

Having dark under-eye circles is more common than you think --if you dread looking in the mirror when you wake up as you have that "punched in the face look" we have an all natural solution for you.

While I myself, don't suffer from dark under-eye circles, I thought I would share a few home remedies I found online for those of you who do to help with this beauty issue.

What Causes Dark Under Eye Circles

  • Sleep deprivation
  • Oversleeping
  • Stress
  • Genetics
  • Tiredness and exhaustion
  • Nasal allergies
  • Skin irritants in makeup products
  • Exposure to the sun (in the absence of a good sunscreen)
  • Aging

Aloe Vera

What You Need
  • Fresh aloe vera gel
  • Cotton Pad
What You Have To Do
  1. Apply the gel under the eyes and massage for a few seconds.
  2. Leave it on for about 10-12 minutes. Clean with a moist cotton pad.
How Often You Should Do This
Do this once during the day and once before going to bed.
Why This Works
Aloe vera soothes the skin and hydrates it. Its nourishing properties reduce the pigmentation under the eye and make the sensitive skin in that area healthier

Coconut Oil

What You Need
A few drops of virgin coconut oil
What You Have To Do
1. Pat the oil on the skin under your eyes.
2. Massage very gently in clockwise and anti-clockwise motions a few times.
3. Leave it on overnight.
How Often You Should Do This
Repeat this every night before going to bed.
Why This Works
The nourishing and moisturizing properties of coconut oil promote the skin’s health. This, in turn, reduces dark circles.

What You Need
1 fresh cucumber
What You Have To Do
1. Cut the cucumber into thick slices and place them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
2. Take two slices and place them on the eyes, ensuring they completely cover the affected area.
3. Leave them on for 10 minutes, and then wash your eyes with cold water.
How Often You Need To Do This
Twice a day for about a week.
Why This Works
Cucumber contains a number of antioxidants like vitexin, orientin, and cucurbitacins, which help treat under eye dark circles.

Green Tea Bags

What You Need
2 green tea bags
What You Have To Do
1. Dip the tea bags in water and refrigerate them for a while.
2. Place the cool tea bags over your eyes for about 15 minutes. Then, wash your face.
How Often You Need To Do This
Do this daily until there is a considerable improvement.
Why This Works
Dark circles are caused when the blood vessels under the eyes are dilated. Green tea helps in reducing this as it contains tannins that have astringent properties. They constrict these dilated blood vessels and capillaries and help reduce the appearance of dark circles. Your eyes will feel refreshed after using this remedy.

Baking Soda

What You Need
  • A cup of warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cotton pads
What You Have To Do
1. Add the baking soda powder to the water and mix well.
2. Soak the cotton pads in this and place them on the eyes for 10-15 minutes.
How Often You Should Do This
Doing this once daily will give best results.
Why This Works
Baking soda has skin soothing and skin lightening properties. Its anti-inflammatory properties will help to improve the blood circulation under the eyes

Apple Cider Vinegar

What You Need
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Q-tip
What You Have To Do
1. Dip the Q-tip in the ACV and apply under the eyes.
2. Let it dry naturally.
How Often You Should Do This
Repeat this twice a day.
Why This Works
The minerals, vitamins, and enzymes present in ACV replenish and rejuvenate the under eye area. In just a couple of days, your dark circles will fade away.
Be careful not to get any vinegar in your eyes. If you do, rinse your eyes with clean water thoroughly.
