The Best Shoes for standing ALL DAY

It has always been said that shoes are what "make the outfit" -- while this might be true in theory it is not always practical!

After all, some of the most beautiful shoes are often the most uncomfortable! As women and [men] we always want to put our best shoes forward even when we have errands to run all day and will be standing for a long period of time.

Today, The Haute Lifestyle has prepared a guide of the Best Shoes for standing all day.

A Pair of Flats

While this might seem like a no-brainer to some, selecting the right pair of flats can be quite tricky. Here are our top 3 things to consider when selecting flats:

  • Color: We would recommend getting a color that can be worn with a number of different outfits as opposed to a bright color as red or yellow. Let's start by building your flats collection, then you can work your way up to the reds and yellows.
  • Shoe Shape: Flats are not just flats-- they come in a number of different shapes ranging from round, triangle (pointy) or even square. We recommend a round shape as opposed to any other shape as the general shape of your five toes is round. Pointy flats are the most uncomfortable as they have a really small and narrow tip that causes your toes to smoosh together.
  • Price: Cheaper is not always better! How many times have you bought a cheap pair of flats that are really hard on the feet and you end up with blisters and corns? We recommend taking a look at your budget and upping it by at least 5%. This will be a staple piece in your shoe collection so we recommend going up in price by just a little. There are really great brands like Tory Burch who is known for her flats and also Payless that offers a number of different styles.

Sneakers/ Trainers/Running Shoes

Here in Jamaica, we call these shoes "Sneakaz" or if you are old-school "Crep". These are your standard comfy shoes and you should have at least one pair. Brands like Reebok and Nike have really stepped up their sneaker design game to include the "Lifestyle Sneakers" which offer a fresh, sleek and modern design on the traditional sneakers that are great for everyday wear. They come in a wide range of styles and colors so the possibilities are endless and the options are plentiful.

Kitten Heels

I know what you are thinking, "oh my God" grandma shoes! Nah, these are definitely not your grandma's kitten heels. There is something about a pair of kitten heels that screams classic, chic and well put together person. We recommend these as they give you a dressed up look without being too dressed up, get it? These are low enough for standing comfortably all day. Brands like Dior have modernized the kitten heel as their Dior Black J'adior Lambskin Slingback Kitten Heels Pumps is one of their best sellers and the coveted pair of heels for fashionistas far and wide.

I remember the first time I saw a pair of crocs-- they were the ugliest shoes I'd ever seen! They were huge, round and bulky and had holes in the front! Crocs, like many brands, have stepped up their design game and they have expanded their range and now offer "pretty shoes". These shoes feel like heaven like they make love to your feet when you slide them in -- too much or no? They are sooo comfortable! These are the choice shoes for healthcare professionals who are on their feet all day! Invest in a pair of Crocs and you can thank us later.

Slips Ons

Rounding out our list are slip ons and they are exactly as they sound -- all you do is slip your feet in! No fuss... no muss😃 Although they are slip on, you can get them in a number of styles like mules and price points. Like the kitten heel, these designs can be dressed up and is perfect for standing as the heels are usually square which supports all your body weight and gives you a firm and comfortable stride.
