ART WALK 2018 | The best of Jamaican Art

It has always been said that Jamaica is a little Island filled with BIG talent and we witnessed that first hand last Sunday for the event known as Artwalk.

Artwalk  is a unique concept that showcases various art forms (painting, speech, dance etc) at different locations across Kingston spearheaded by Andrea Dempster-Chung, founder of Kingston Creative. It is also a movement who believes that "Kingston is the Creative Capital of the Caribbean". Over the next 5-10 years, we want to create an art district and nub for creative entrepreneurs downtown.

On Sunday, May 27, 2018, we headed Downtown Kingston for our 1st time at the event. What made this event interesting was the fact that it was literally a “walk from location to location so it felt like a guided Art Tour where you got to see some of the beautiful architecture of Downtown Kingston and of course, the wind from the Caribbean Sea combated against the warmth of the Sun.

We saw really interesting pieces with the stand-outs (in my opinion) being the Krystal Ball and her Revenant Exhibit held at Studio 174 where she showcased aspects of Jamaican culture through painting with bright colors and there was also J.C who had women on display in Saran Wrap left to the interpretation of the viewer. It was a great day and even better concept as this was our first "art" related event and we will definitely be at the next one.

The day ended on High Spirits with drinks and lyme at F&B Downtown.
