Jessica Lee Wong introduces her XhaleSwim Collection

Jessica Lee Wong is the quintessential Jamaican-born woman! She is driven, passionate and ambitious and has many talents and interests including modeling, make-up and creative writing. She was successful in the 2017 Miss Universe Jamaica Pageant where she made the top 10 and was the recipient of the Gleaner Online Popular Vote and Lasco iCool Coolest Contestant. Jessica recently added a new title to her list of compliments – Swimsuit Designer! The Haute Lifestyle caught up with her to learn about new swimsuit brand, XhaleSwim.

THP: Tell us about yourself?
JLW: Hey Loves! My name is Jessica Wong, but you can call me “Jess”. I am 25 years young, Jamaican, residing in Miami, Florida. Besides being a swimsuit designer, I am an Independent Model, Blogger, Make-up artist, and Youtuber! I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Creative Writing.

I would describe myself as goofy, humble and creative! I love to speak greatness into everyone around me.

THP: What inspired your swimwear line and how did you come up with the name?
JLW: XhaleSwim was created to celebrate women. Each piece flatters a woman's curves and mimics her body. "Relax & Lose the Cover Up!" is our simple philosophy; we want every woman to feel comfortable after discarding their cover-up.  I was always self-conscious wearing swimsuits; it was rare to find a swimsuit that highlighted what I liked about myself. I became fascinated with designing swimsuits that would uniquely allow every woman to feel great about herself. So now women can Exhale and Slay!

THP: Who is the ideal Xhaleswim woman?
JLW: She loves to make a statement and feel confident always. She is bold. She is a trendsetter. She wants to embrace being a woman, she wants to love her curves and never question how much of a queen she truly is.

THP: How has your journey been as a new swimwear designer?
JLW: My journey as a new swimwear designer has been a learning process. I learn something new every day about myself, business practices, technology, marketing, and manufacturing, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have also been fortunate to coordinate XhaleSwim’s grand opening campaign that went viral on Instagram, which was completely unexpected and a wonderful blessing. It is my strong belief that hard work pays off and XhaleSwim’s photoshoot was an example of that.

THP: What would you say is your “stand-out” piece from the collection?
JLW: XhaleLove in neon orange! It is my best seller, affordable and has a retro meets modern look because of the design, and the color pops on any complexion. I get butterflies when I see someone feel great in XhaleSwim, it is a blessing to make women feel amazing.

THP: What is the most important lesson you’ve learned from starting your own business?
JLW: XhaleSwim has taught me the importance of never giving up!  Challenges will always present themselves, but they build character and knowledge. I don’t believe in living my life in regret, I will never cheat myself out of any opportunity to grow.

THP: If you could have one celebrity wear Xhaleswim who would it be?
JLW: I would love to see Xhaleswim on my fellow island girl/ big sister in my head-Rihanna! She would slay any of my designs! That would be such a dream come true and she always makes a statement! I would love to see how she would style it as well.

THP: Finish the sentence … “The one electronic device I cannot live without is”
JLW: The one electronic device I cannot live without is my phone! I am constantly on it... at once! I am forever multitasking.

THP: What’s your beauty routine for a day on the beach?
JLW: My beauty routine for a day on the beach would be to first put on a full face of makeup! :)  (I’m addicted to the stuff). I would spray myself with olive oil, to make my skin glow. I would style my hair in a way that wind couldn’t destroy! A giant blanket is a big must, a speaker, some food and some great friends to keep me laughing!

THP: Where can we find the pieces?
JLW: Website: Instagram @xhaleswim
