An Ultra Chic "Urban" Affair at the Collection MoDA Runway 2017 | David Rolle and Carlton Brown

The Grand Jamaican Suite inside the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, was last Thursday transformed into an Industrial yet Futuristic chic runway as designed by Tai Flora gave us major "Shut up and Drive Vibes". Kingston's premiere Fashion Event, The Collection MoDA Runway show 2017 was back for it's yearly showcase this time featuring 8 Designers.

As we were ushered into the venue, the first thing we saw was the Berger Paints performance art installation where two people were transformed into "a live work of art". Things got under way as we made our way over to the Yello Media Group concierge check-in where we then made our way over to Dawn Mitchell's elaborate spread of sweet treats as provided by Sagicor Bank. After catching up with a few friends and snapping "Fashion Arrivals", with Grey Goose cocktails in hand, we made our way into the Fashion Show.

The show commenced with Project Runway Alum's Korto Momolu who presented two collections (one later) which incorporated her Liberian background of bright and colorful pieces as well as clean lines and structured pieces. Next was local designer Arlene Martin of Drenna Luna who made her runway debut where she presented an exciting collection of couture meets elegance while sticking to her brand essence as modeled by the current Miss Universe Jamaica Davina Bennett and former Miss Universe Jamaica winners Kerrie Baylis 2013, Kaci Fennel-Shirley 2014, Yendi Phillips 2010 and Angie Martin-Spencer 1994.

JohnEli DaCosta was next with his menswear collection that featured hues of black, blush and floral printed capes that shows the masculine and feminine side of men. The collection of young up and coming designer Daniella Stone with her DTS by Daniella Stone brand was a fun filled collection of youthful exuberance and featured colorful swimwear, cover-ups and clothing.

Seasoned designer Courtney Washington's collection was next and took us on a journey through the seasons of life (and the weather) and featured beautiful winter full length animal printed coats. The creative visionary, master tailor and draper Czar Galindo was next with his vibrant collection that featured a very chic lady-like collection of hand printed floral dresses and lace so elegantly accessorized by pearls and diamond encrusted sunnies!

The penultimate collection of Bahamian Artist and Designer David Rolle who's collection featured this season's hottest trend of floral prints which gave us major Spain Matador vibes and also included an open cropped jacket with bell sleeves that sent the attendees into a frenzy!

Closing the show in fine style was local bespoke tailor Carlton Brown and his Mirror Collection that opened with twins getting dressed in front of a mirror (themselves) in his expertly designed suits. The collection also featured a surprise performance from "Agent Sasco" who performed his latest hit "Winning" as he walked across the stage in a fitted plaid suit. Also on the runway was Jamaican Sprinter and famed athlete Asafa Powell and popular as well as some of Jamaica's top well accomplished and recognized men.
