My Lawyer-Chic Make-up Routine

They say dressing well is an indication of good manners and if I may add, properly done make-up! Whenever I am preparing for the courtroom, whether it may be to attend a trial or to take verbatim notes for Senior Counsel, I must exude confidence without even saying a word. Make-up pulls any look together, no matter how simple the outfit, hence it is a must for me. My go-to make-up look for court is a classic one with a pop of color on the lips. High quality make-up products, healthy skin and a quick routine ensure that everyone sees I am there to ‘slay’ whenever I make my entrance.
The best quality make-up is required to ensure that my look lasts longer than an all-day trial. No one wants their make-up dripping off their face while the judge is giving her ruling in a hot Resident Magistrate’s court. My trusted brands for this make-up look are NARS, MAC and Smashbox.

Make-up looks even better on healthy skin so it is important to ensure that it is well taken care of through proper diet, exercise and sleep. I usually go straight in for my Clean and Clear cleanser to ensure that my skin is clean first and foremost. Kiehl’s “Ultra Facial Moisturizer” followed by my Smashbox “Photo-ready primer” are my favourites to use when prepping my skin for make-up.
Being on time is important, therefore, my routine is not a lengthy one.  Mac’s “Studio Fix Fluid” in the shade NC 45 is my go-to foundation for the days when I am having unwelcomed breakouts and need extra full coverage. However, I go for the NARS Luminous foundation in the shade “Tahoe” when my skin is on its best behavior and does not need to be hidden as much. That is followed by my LA Girl concealer in “Warm Honey” to hide any dark circles which present evidence of my lack of sleep and last minute case law research at ungodly hours. I set with Ben Nye Powder in shade “Banana” and contour my face with MAC’s “Deep Dark” skin finish.
For the brows, I prefer a natural look, hence I use MAC’s “Spiked” pencil. A thin winged-liner is reserved for days when I have extra time but I never forget a black liner for my bottom lash-line and my mascara. A tiny bit of MAC’s “Gold Deposit” is added for a subtle glow and a tad bit of MAC’s “Ambering Rose” for a little colour on my cheeks. Last but not least MAC’s “Ruby Woo” red lipstick pulls it all together.
Healthy skin secures that radiant glow with the help high quality products and a routine which will not give way to tardiness so that I can feel confident in the courtroom and slay all day!
