If the Bra Fits ...

"If the Bra Fits ... Let them Wear It" , new phrase coined by yours truly.

It has been said that the right fitting Bra can change a woman's life. I was able to witness that when I accompanied my sister and a friend to a custom Bra Fitting some time ago. I have to admit I was a bit shy as I don't have a lot to work with and there is also the belief that only those with ample bosoms need to be fitted. Boy was I wrong! A custom Bar fitting is for boobs of all sizes and shapes no matter the age. Here are a few things I was told by the lady who did the fittings.

Measurements: When you get a custom Bra fitting there will be two (2) types of measurements: Band Size and Cup Size.

For Bra Size
  • A. Measure your under-bust using a tape measure, making sure the tape is parallel with the ground. It should not be loose or binding. Exhale to get the smallest measurement possible.
  • B. Find your number (inches or centimeters) and enter it in the box below. Be sure to round all fractional measurements to the nearest whole number.

For Cup Size

  • A. While wearing a non-padded bra, stand straight with your arms at your sides and measure the fullest part of your bust. Make sure the measuring tape is parallel with the ground and not loose or binding.
  • B. Find your number (inches or centimeters) and enter it in the box below. Again, round all fractional measurements to the nearest whole number.

Although you can use these two things for measurement , there are other things to consider such as: firmness of your breast , broadness of your back and narrowness of your shoulder.

If you are shy like me, then I must let you know that measurements are done topless ( not by the person doing the measurements ... that would be weird ) . Once you go in that little room , they will ask you to remove your top and bra so they can accurately measure you. Of course If you keep your top on , the measurement will be a tad bigger than the actual size.

Bra Fit: Once you've been fitted , you will try a number of Bra Styles and shapes. There are certain things you need to look for when you select a Bra. Sure the professional is there to help you along the way , but the onus is on you to get a Bra that Fits! Here is a quick list of what to look for in a Bra.

Smooth Fitting Cups

Center panel lays flat against your breastbone

Bra band is parallel to the floor or slightly lower in the back

Straps stay put and don't dig into your shoulders

Cup fabric is stable.

Underwires encircle your breasts

Good breast uplift

Breasts point forward; do not sag or fall to your sides

A finger can be run under your front band

Feels comfortable when seated.

Consider an alteration

Decode your Breasts: Ladies (and gents ) when it comes to breast , it is not once size fits all nor do they look like "Hollywood Boobs ". There are different Breast Types , Sizes and Shapes and these should be taken into consideration.  Some people might have more "side boob" than others and is looking for a Bra to hold and snatch everything together while there are others who might have boobs that are noticeably different in size. Be sure to tell the person doing that fitting what your issue is and they will choose a Bra Accordingly.

What you Know is a Lie: We are all used to the A-D Size when it comes to Breasts and anything after that is just .. humongous and need a special fit. I went in saying I'm a certain size "in real life" then when they gave me a Bra that was seemingly smaller by number I was a bit hesitant. After I tried the Bra on .. whoop there it was! I had Boobs! The Bra snatched everything the traditional Bra was not able to do because it was the wrong size. When you get fitted ... just shush and let the professional do their job and you will be surprised.

Expensive: Yes , the Bras you get at a Professional fitting might be more expensive than the ones you get in the store. I have no reason why and what you pay for exactly Maybe it's the time or the fitting process but prepare to pay a pretty penny This is definitely worth it as you get a great quality Bra that lasts a long time.

I would recommend all women to get professionally fitted ( if you can ) just to ensure you get the correct Bra. Trust me when I tell you that you will not regret it.
