Transition Thursdays : Moving from the 9-5 Lifestyle

Transition Thursdays is a new series where I will talk about various changes in Life. This will feature some of my own personal Journey as well as the Journeys of others. I hope this will help people on their own journey to realize they are not alone.

I am officially no longer on a 9-5 Lifestyle. What this means is I am no longer a Slave to 4 walls of an Office; No longer a Slave to Building another person's Dreams; No longer a Slave to being a Slave.

What are you Doing Now?

I'm in the Process of launching a Company that offers Creative Services specifically for those people who are involved in Fashion and Entertainment. After working in Marketing for years ... I've realized there are no specialized Programs or packages created for people in this Field ( In Jamaica) that is , that I know of. A regular Marketing Package will not work for people in this Field as they are not regular thinkers so they have a unique way of doing things. Aside from this ... I am a Full-time Blogger. This means I make money Blogging from my personal Blog and Creating and managing Blogs for individuals and companies.

Pros & Con's of Transitioning from 9-5

- More time to live my dreams and truly challenge myself
- More time to try new things
- More time to make Breakfast ( on the 9-5 this was either Coffee or Instant Porridge since cooking a full breakfast would take time and I'd be stuck in Traffic)
- No answering to anyone
- No sitting in Traffic for Hours
- I have more gas in my Car

- Unpredictable Earnings

It just felt right . I really can't explain it in full details .. but it felt like now is the time to try this.  I also felt that the Company I worked with had no more place for me to grow. I started at the bottom as a Sales Executive until I was Promoted to Operations Manager. It was really boring and i literally would feel sick getting up and getting ready day after day doing the same old things all the time. It was just time to leave and create a path for myself where I can be challenged and do different things everyday. Also the hours were waaay too long. From 8:30 - 6:00 and sometimes on Weekends ... the pay did not match up to these hours.

I will also be sharing Photos of the Transition from choosing Office Furniture , Marketing Material and Even Fabric which I hope will inspire people. There has been a lot of questions from fellow Bloggers and Small Business Owners ( who has been requesting that I offer Consultation ) and I'm happy to say I will be offering Consultation soon. This will not be the cookie-cutter type of Consultation where one thing is created for everyone. It will be one on one interactive sessions with specific information created for each individual.

Please let me know about any form of transition in your life

  1. I moved from 9-5 after I had my first son. I never looked back.

  2. I have made this transition myself so I know exactly how you feel! I do try to keep a To-Do list and somewhat of a schedule when I'm working for home all day so I don't waste too much time on social media! ;)

  3. It takes some adjustment but I wouldn't go back to the 9-5 grind! I love being my own boss. It has its challenges, but it's worth it!

  4. Working 9-5 is a rough thing for some people.

  5. I was never a 9-5 person even when I did it. I do stick to a schedule though.

  6. I find it so distractible to work from home especially with the kids home on snow days and their summer schedule.

  7. We've moved over 12 times and there's no way I can do 9-5. But now that we're settled, I'm not sure I'd go back.

  8. I am wishing you the best on your new adventure. Sounds like a good choice.

  9. I was a pretty jarring transition from 9-5 jobs my whole life to what I do now. I like being my own boss though.

  10. I like my 9-5 but have a part time gig I'm ready to ditch. I'm making some moves to let it go.

  11. There's only one con on the list but it's a biggie!! I miss a predictable income.

  12. It definitely takes adjustment. I went from 9-5 to part-time to full time mom and now SAHM plus business owner. Life is a journey and enjoy!

  13. I left the 9-5 years ago. Best choice I ever made. I love being home with my family!

  14. Congrats on the big change! I work from home and can't imagine doing it any other way now.

  15. I think this was one of the hardest transitions I had to make....but I love that I made this decision

  16. Congrats on the transition! I've never regretted my move!

  17. The unpredictable earnings is what I struggle with as well. Congrats on the change though.

  18. I transitioned when I was pregnant with my daughter. I ended up having to quit my job and I found online work then. She's 11 now!
