Kingston, August 7th, 2014 - The Ms. Jamaica Nation Beauty Pageant was launched on Thursday 7th August, 2014 at the Abar Restaurant and Lounge in Kingston Jamaica. After twenty years of hosting Ms. Jamaica USA, Ken Williams Director is set to make pageant history with the inaugural staging of the Ms. Jamaica Nation Beauty Pageant. Modelled after the Ms. World and Ms. Universe contests, the Ms. Jamaica Beauty pageant has two critical differentiation points. It is the first of its kind to celebrate the natural beauty of our women and it focuses on the development of the nation of Jamaica. “I appreciate the fact that the both the Ms. World and Ms Universe contests have provided our young ladies and Jamaica with significant opportunities to shine on the world stage. However, I still feel that there is an opening and a need for a pageant such as our own” Mr. Williams noted. The Pageant guidelines define natural as of this competition natural is defined as being devoid of the use of any artificial enhancements such as: hair extensions, tattoos, alternations to the physique whether by surgery or clothing, fake eyelashes, coloured contact lens etc…

The pageant will be contested by 14 young ladies aged 18-25; each representing one of the island’s parishes. All contestants represent the parish of their official residence and each will be required to reveal interesting facts about it and to speak to its future development in a 60 second slot.
The Crowning Affair for the Ms. Jamaica Nation Beauty Pageant will be staged on August 23rd, 2014 at the Courtleigh Hotel Auditorium.Williams added that the reason for hosting the pageant is two-fold as it is the only of its kind with that holds up the Ms. Jamaica title as the ultimate prize. In addition it reinforces the notion that natural can be beautiful.” He felt that with the barrage of products and companies providing solutions to enhance a woman’s beauty there was a need to deliver an alternative and uplifting message.

Williams said; “when the team looked at all the products on the market created to give our women that extra “help”, we began to question the subliminal message being communicated to both our women and impressionable young girls.  We realized that Ms. Jamaica Nation provides us with the perfect platform to deliver an alternative one that boosts their self-esteem and self-worth.”

Much loved actress and singer Cherine Anderson has endorsed the event and will provide a sizzling set that evening along with the other surprise artistes.
