The Truth About Growth -- Mumblings of a 30 Something

What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Jane Goodall

Each year my life seems to have a theme based on circumstances and events and for 2019 the theme has been "growth". For the past few years, I've been having the typical millennial feeling of "being stuck" and thought my life would be working for my family business, being stuck in a relationship because I know the person too long and just doing the bare minimum to live an average basic life! I've always heard "you are too talented to be living in Jamaica - you should live in farin with all your skills and experience". I then thought "hmmm .. maybe there is something there". I decided to go into prayer as I'm a believer and that's what we're told to do when things become difficult and we need some direction. I prayed for a specific job in a specific industry with a specific salary and for other specific opportunities and they all came true! Before I received all these "blessings" I struggled! I struggled with deep-rooted trauma, generational curses, family drama, betrayal, rejection .. ALL THE THINGS and during that time it felt like a never-ending loop that would be my life.

I say all that to say this .. If you feel stuck in life and constantly struggling to make ends meet or just to find your purpose, there is hope as corny as it may sound. All you have to do is really, really put in the work to change your situation. The power of life and death is in your tongue if you think negative thoughts all the time surely negative things will happen.

Growth is a never-ending process that comes with many pains and triumph and for those of us who are strong enough to fight all the way through the end, life is pretty good and everything would have all been worth it.

For the remainder of the year, I hope to share my growing pains with you (good and bad) without being too overbearing.

What is your them for this year?
