Age is just a number | Yes! You can still accomplish the life you've dreamed about

We've all heard the expression "Age is just a number" for years and it's usually synonymous with older folks trying to do things that "young people" are supposed to do according to society. We place so much emphasis on age that we've somehow forgotten to actually enjoy life and place limitations on our selves and society on a whole. If you are at an age .. any age at all and you feel your time has passed to accomplish your dream life OR if you feel like you've accomplished nothing in life, it's not too late.

As a 32-year-old Jamaican woman there are certain expectations that have been placed on me and the timeline I'm supposed to accomplish them:

-  10 -17: Complete high school - (back then we started school young as we were smart so this age is acceptable)
-  17- 21 Complete Unversity  university  ( back then the school of choice was The University of the West Indies )
-  21 - 25 Get a Job that pays well and work your way up
- 25 -30 Get married and start a family
30 + Live the "Jamaican Dream"

Even though all these expectations have been placed on my life (as well as other people) our journies are different and things that work for you will not work for me. I know people who have accomplished all these things well before the timeline and others who are yet to accomplish it but eventually get there. I know the pressures of society for many of us young women can be hard, but relax and take your time-- things usually work themselves out the way they were meant to. This is not neglecting the fact that you need to have goals, be consistent and take actionable steps to accomplish them. If you rely on the pressures of this world to do something before it's time, you will surely fail. Always be thankful and work hard and the right things will find you at the right time.

If you feel like you have accomplished nothing in life, backtrack and count your blessings literally.

People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.
