Coming back from Failure like a CHAMP

Sunday, November 4, 2018

I like doing these type of posts because I get to look back a year from now and see how much I've grown and learned to get over the difficult situations that life has thrown my way.

In 2018, I've realized that people no longer speak their truth but instead only show the flashier, well-up put together, and expertly photo-shopped version on Social Media. I'm here to tell you that 2018 was the best yet challenging year of my life! I had my #Issarae growth year where I had to swerve tons of bad decisions, deals, and people.

It was the year I got all the things I've ever wanted including going to New York Fashion Week and being compensated by the top modeling agencies in the Caribbean for photos. It was also the year I had to get rid of talented people because they were selfish, insubordinate, had an agenda or an overall asshole! When this all happened, I was at a low as If I've just started on the journey and was back to my old tiny camera where all the people and things came out red or yellow. Itwas like I was starting all over again.

All this happened in May and it wasn't until October I remember my "why" and how I got started (alone) and was inspired to be creative. I would either beg these people to come back who I knew were bad (which I did just last week) OR find new people that are equally or more talented! Ding, Ding! Light Bulb moment! Why hadn't I thought of this sooner! There will always disagreements in life and if we were to all sit around and lay-low until things were good, what would happen to the world? There would be no inventions like the Internet, Cellphones or Netflix --Imagine if those inventors decided to just stop in the middle of things because they had a disagreement with people.

For the rest of the year into the new year, I'll be going hard and reaching out to people for help when it becomes too much and looking beyond Jamaica for help. The world is a BIG amazing place with amazing people who are waiting for this gift I have and will be ready to help Haute be the best it can be.

If you are like me and had your struggle moment (or few) get up! It's not the end of the road, you are still the same person you were when you started. Don't lose hope!

We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure.
