QORIHC Tea Party 2018 | A Gold and White Affair

Tuesday, October 23, 2018

It was an afternoon of sparkling wine, sweet treats and delicious food and great conversations as QORIHC in collaboration with Dezign Diva hosted a Tea Party to celebrate the Awardees of QORIHC 2018 and previous years.

The new Dezign Diva location at 96 Hope Road with it's quaint, chic and trendy decor items made the perfect location for the event. This was not your average "Tea Party", it was a Jamaican Tea Party filled with great vibes, great stories, and wonderful people.

This was the kind of Tea Party where the world's first black Gucci model, Nadine Willis and the Artistic Director of Jamaica's leading contemporary dance company Dr. L'Antoinette Stines became instant BFFs and traded jokes about the tasty ham sandwiches for which Dr. Stines playfully opted out of. This was the type of Tea Party where Miss World 1976 Cindy Breakspeare and Dorthy Cunningham of Lime Tree Lane shared stories about their time and how proud they felt to be Jamaican.

As the day progressed, the room became full of Jamaica's most noted successful women who forged a path and who stood out in their respective areas. The 2018 Awardees in attendance was Doris Grace, Dorthy Cunningham, Dr. L'Antoinette Stines, Trishana McDonald, Dr. Carlene Davis, Pam Hall, and Marcia Elliott.

QORIHC founder Laurell Nurse gave a brief synopsis of the event followed by women talking about their journey to success and their appreciation for the event. There was a heartfelt message by Dahlia Harris who charged us to not be afraid to take a risk in life as we all have something special to offer the world.

Like the Media Launch, Jhaved aka Spoogie provided the entertainment as the DJ spun some of Reggae and Dancehall hits which led to a dance-off where Pam Hall proved she was up to the times and was named the winner as she "flung" her shoulders to victory.

With the success and feel good vibe of this event, we are excited about the grand event, the QORIHC Awards on Saturday, October 28, 2018, at the Courtleigh Auditorium at 7pm. Be sure to visit the QORIHC page on Instagram to get information on tickets to the event.

We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.
