How to make your Makeup last ALL DAY this Summer

Monday, July 9, 2018

You've been invited to the hottest Summer party of the year and like Beyonce, you are "feeling yourself" --you then decide to go all out with your makeup and create a full face beat, but you completely forget it's Summer and a 100 degrees and the moment you step outside, you have a makeup meltdown! Makeup meltdown? not on this street! Keep reading for our best tips for making your makeup last ALL DAY this summer.

Always use Primer

We know this is a step that can easily be skipped because it would be one product too much in this heat but think of primer as your base that will keep your foundation in place. The primer will stick to your skin and the foundation will stick to the primer making it last all day or at least for a few hours. We recommend a mattifying primer to give you that smooth "freshly washed face" look. We also recommend a primer for the eyelids for those of you who might have oily lids and for long-lasting eyeshadows.

Powder before Foundation

We've seen top beauty Guru Jackie Aina (cue Jackie Aina theme song) use powder before a liquid/cream foundation and we were shooketh! Just when you think you know just about everything, there comes miss Jackie with the surprises. Using a powder before the foundation smooths your face making the application flawless and make foundation last longer. I've tried this myself and it truly does work! If you are like me and not into that "casket ready" foundation look, this is perfect for you as it looks as natural as your skin.

Use Oil-Free Makeup

Here's a no-brainer we think need very little explanation -- simply opt for oil-free makeup over any other type of formulations. There are foundations like Revlon Superstay that offers not only a wide shade-range but also a wide range of foundations for a variety of skin types. Oil + Heat is a bad combination and just imagine having oily skin then using an oil-based foundation on a hot day! You would be dripping (without finesse) and be as shiny as a disco ball.

Blot your Make-up with a Sponge

Ok, ok, so after following all the tips above there will be that pesky T-zone area that will always break down the make-up before other parts of your face and will get just a tad oily. The fix is simple--blot with a beauty sponge (not a kitchen sponge) the areas you see looking shiny. Using a sponge will absorb the excess oil and product while keeping the make-up in place. There are several beauty sponges you can use at various price ranges that suit your budget.

Finish with Setting Spray

Sis! get yourself a good setting spray to keep all that flawlessness in place! You spent all that time creating that look and you wouldn't want it to fall apart, would you? Think of a setting spray as the cherry on top that completes your makeup look.
