Fashion Block | PT 2 *PHOTO HEAVY*

Friday, May 25, 2018

The most anticipated event of Style Week 2018, “Fashion Block” experienced a total one-eighty this year with it being held on Saturday night as opposed to Sunday like previous years.

The busy Knutsford Boulevard was transformed into “Fashion Boulevard” with a 100ft Runway—the largest in the Caribbean. As we entered the venue we could feel the energy as we made our way through the crowd which this year gave the public a chance to be on the inside if they made it early enough to snag a seat. On the front row were top agents, Politicians, Entrepreneurs Style Week Ambassadors, and Designers.

The event hosted by Media Personality Jerry D commenced a little after 11pm and saw designs from a hefty roster of twelve (12) Designers from Jamaica to Columbia. The Designers were:

1.    Shades of Africa
2.    Kadian Nicely
3.    Phillip Reid
4.    Donovan DePass
5.    Mamayashi
6.    Neahlis
7.     Reve Jewellery & Accessories
8.     Andre Shirley
9.     Keshon Hawthorn
1.   Rick Bailey
1.   T& T Fashion
1.    Cafferey Van Horne

Between changes, the audience was entertained by female recording artists: Kim Nain, Ikaya, and D’Angel who slayed in an Avant Garde outfit perfect for the event and matching bubble pink hair.

We saw the homecoming of one of Jamaica’s most successful model; Tami Williams who jetted in from Barcelona who expressed that she just had to be there! We loved the Afro-futurism designs from Shades of Africa which showcased the glamorous side of the African culture with beautiful gowns and hats. The “Most Wanted” Collection by Keshon Hawthorn made things interesting with his bold use of camouflage, leather, and lace and made it totally bad@ss. Caffery Van Horne’s Designs took us through his years living in Waltham Park where he saw women getting ready to go out and always wanting to outdo each other – we loved the beautiful fabric and the soft colors and how he paired them with prints. Fashion Block 2018 did not disappoint and of course, we have to commend Campari for their well-stocked bar that offered limitless drink choices which made the night more interesting.

When the show came to an end our curiosity soared leaving us anticipating the final show …International Mecca of Style which would take us back Downtown this time on "top of the world" at the Digicel HQ Rooftop.
