That one time I got lost in New York | #storytime

"When New York calls ... you answer"!

Last February, New York called me to Fashion Week and before you could say "quidish" I was on the next flight out (not really but one has to be dramatic in these scenarios). Since my Birthday was during Fashion Week, my spidey senses began to tingle and I thought to myself  "What could I possibly do in New York on my Birthday"? Go to the Wendy Williams show of course-- If you are a "Wendy Watcher" you know that the tickets are free and they are on a first come first serve basis.
I checked the website and realized there was a show on MY BIRTHDAY and immediately filled out the form and crossed all fingers and toes that I would get in! I then quickly remembered that I had met Wendy's stylist here in Jamaica at Style Week and he remembered me each year. Within a few days, I got an Email that I was selected and would be a "co-host" ( excitement tun-up ).

I was so excited to go on Wendy as it was literally like a dream come through and I got a snazzy outfit and a Tiara as guests always wear Tiaras on their Birthday on the show and Wendy loved it. The show would start taping at 10:00 am which meant I would have to leave from Brooklyn from around 5:45 am on hours and a half train ride to arrive by 8am. I actually left at 6:15 am and was confident that I would be there on time. When the train got to my destination it was 7:45am and I was so happy that I ran to the supposed address. Thing is, I read the address wrong and completely mixed up STREET with AVENUE and was told by one of those scary looking guys that looked like an extra from "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" that I was miles away and was actually uptown and needed to get on a train somewhere "in between" then transfer to another train to take me to the show. I eventually found the location at 9:45 AM!! I was kinda bummed that I had missed the show after my "Journey to the center of the Earth", but there is always a silver lining in every dark cloud so I trodded on.

Waverly Place -- it's actually real!

NYU --Blair Waldorf went here
Being lost in New York was one of the best things ever! I ended up on "Waverly Place" - from "Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney Channel ( didn't know that was real ) saw New York University (NYU) in real life and it wasn't what I expected at all! First of all, If you are not too keen you might miss it as the only thing I saw was the white flag with NYU in purple and the building seemed to blend in with the city. It was high and didn't look like the typical Amercian University Campus.  I also saw tons of cute cafe's that were Instagram and Pinterest worthy. I then went back uptown to Times Square which I went to the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and saw a disturbing looking Justin Timberlake, took my self to a nice lunch and when on a mini shopping spree.

I could go forever on all the things I saw that day being lost but I'll end it here.
