Introducing Carnival Glam Hub

Saturday, March 10, 2018
A great costume, feathers, and boots are just a few mandatory items for “chipping down the road” this Carnival. Another major thing is having a make-up artist! No carnival experience is truly complete without bright and colorful makeup with expertly placed gems. This season a young and talented make-up artist has taken make-up to a whole new level by creating a Carnival Glam Hub. Today, we go “Behind the Seams” with Gabrielle Waite, founder, and conceptualizer of Carnival Glam Hub.

THP: Tell us about yourself
G.W: I'm Gabrielle Waite, I’m 21 years old, and I’m currently in my final year at the University of the West Indies pursuing a double major in banking and marketing. Not only am I a student, my interests have brought me to become a dancer, philanthropist and the managing director of Gabby Glam co. and the Carnival Glam Hub.

THP: How did you get started in Make-up?
G.W: I was exposed to makeup and getting glammed as early as the age of 4, due to my many performances for my dancing recitals. During that time, it was probably the only chance I got to wear lipstick. My mom was also a mua and I would accompany her to makeup jobs on weekends and eventually, when I was in 3rd form she would let me help her on some of her jobs. So that's actually how I got into makeup.

THP: Tell us about the Carnival Glam Hub concept?
G.W: Carnival GLAM Hub is a premium space held at the Pegasus hotel for feters to get glammed and engage in pre-mass activities that incorporate select brands, adding to the overall carnival experience. We have local and international makeup artists and hairstylists, a photo shoot area and a shuttle service that will take feters from Pegasus to where they need to be on the road.

THP: What can patrons expect at Carnival Glam Hub?
G.W: The ultimate road march GLAM Hub is complete with tailored breakfast packages sponsored by Pegasus Hotel, changing areas, charging stations, open WiFi, local and international muas, photoshoot area and live soca music. a feters pre-mass dream. We have amazing sponsors who are each coming with some excitement for our feters such as Jamaica Mountain Peak, GH Mummm, Curves, REVLON, Gabriellea’s cosmetics, Tai flora, Elle and Vire, swypz, Polished, Gabby Glam, Intuit Concepts, White Wolf Creativ, and UCA.

THP: Spill the beans ... who are some of your "special guests" for Carnival Glam Hub?
G.W: Well we have quite a few international mua’s who people identify as the Goddesses of Carnival makeup. Eg Karine Gatibelza and Melissa Glodon from Guadeloupe and The Glam Beast from Trinidad just to name a few. But it doesn’t stop there, we have two of the best hairstylists in the game, Brittany Rae, and Neahlis.

THP: What do you really want people to gain from Carnival Glam Hub?
G.W: At the end of the day I want feters to have a premium experience and feel like true royalties provided with A1 service.

THP: How can people sign-up/book
G.W: Well the spaces are filling up but we have a few slots left, you can make your bookings on Instagram @gabbyglamco stating the mua or hairstylists you would like to book. However, we will be doing walk-ins as well so if you’re still seeking a mua just come on out to the Glam Hub to get glammed!
