Marbana is #1 Beach Event this Easter + Behind the Seams with Zulo Walton

Monday, February 19, 2018

"Sophistication in motion" is the Tag-line for the events brand M7Events.

If you are familiar with the Jamaican events/entertainment scene you might have heard the name "Zulo Walton". Zulo Walton is synonymous with quality events in Jamaica namely Marbana, Soiree and SPF Weekend. With the popular Easter weekend fast approaching we thought it was the perfect timing to get all the deets on the signature Easter Sunday event Marbana. Today, The Haute Lifestyle goes "Behind the Seams" with Zulo Walton of M7Events.

THP: Tell us about M7 Events?
ZULO: M7 Events was conceptualized and created by a group of 7 friends who realized there was a void in the entertainment scene that needed to be filled. The group hosted its first event on Christmas Eve 2004, called “Friends Only” which was a bottle party catering to our friends on an invitation-only basis. That event was kept annually and the name was changed to Soiree and held on Christmas Eve each year and became a sought-after staple event on the Christmas party scene.

In 2011 we conceptualized and birthed SPF Weekend which was a 3 day weekend of parties catering to a mature crowd of friends growing in numbers and success each year.

Another brainchild of the group was to bring party life back to the parish of Portland with our Easter Sunday beach party held on the sands of the world-renowned Frenchmans Cove Resort. This year will be the 5th staging of this event which kicks off the Carnival Week in Jamaica.

We pride ourselves in always trying to exceed the expectations of our patrons and always look to improve our service from event to event.

THP: What is the one event people know M7 Events for?
ZULO: Its hard to single out one event because all 3 events cater to a different demographic although there is a certain amount of crossover between the 3.  If I had to choose, I would say Soiree:: SPF.

THP: Explain the concept behind Marbana 2018?
ZULO: We realized there was a need to offer something new and exciting to partygoers looking for a change of scenery from the norm of Ocho Rios. The idea of hosting a beach party at Frenchmans Cove Resort in Portland was conceptualized and MARBANA was born shortly thereafter.

THP: Of all the places in Jamaica .. why did you choose Port Antiono for the 2018 staging?
ZULO: Frenchmans Cove Resort is the home of MARBANA. We forged a relationship with the resorts' owners from the first staging in 2014 and never looked back since. People love Portland for its lush vegetation, beautiful beaches and just all round laid- back atmosphere. So we figured it was the best spot to host what would soon become a sought-after event the world over.

THP: What would you say makes a successful event?
ZULO: There are a few key ingredients that every event must have in order to be successful. Great Music, good beverage offering, a nice venue and of course the beautiful people who come out to party.

THP: What can people expect at Marbana 2018?
ZULO: Top class DJ lineup providing a musical production to keep patrons dancing all day. Top shelf beverage offering. Delectable Food offering suitable for Kings and Queens. A pristine beach to host the event. Wow factors to keep all patrons engaged and entertained. High energy pulsating environment that will leave a lasting impression.

THP: Why should people come out to Marbana this year?
ZULO: MARBANA is in a league of its own. It caters to a more mature crowd and never disappoints its patrons with its offerings. This will be the 5th staging of the event and will continue to exceed the standards and experiences of past events. No other event offers a beach club experience like MARBANA here in Jamaica. If party enthusiasts want something different than the norm then they should come and enjoy the experience.

Marbana is not just an event but envelopes a much larger vision of being a catalyst for the resurgence of Port Antonio as an Entertainment Destination. Marbana helps to boost the Portland economy, if only for a weekend, and the trickle-down effect of every dollar spent is significant. We also seek to employ local chefs, lifeguards and other labor from the parish so that there's a more holistic benefit to everyone in the parish. I should also point out that we have for many years now, adopted as a charity, the Portland Rehabilitation center as we believe in giving back however we can.  From inception, we also decided on a "go green initiative" where we focus on using materials from the natural resources to enhance the venue, giving it a more rustic decor hence the driftwood pieces used to adorn and decorate the venue.

Hello There 😃😃
We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our article takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.
