#HowYouSleepin | College Students and Sleep

Thursday, February 8, 2018

We have been talking a lot about sleep here at the Haute Lifestyle because it's important! Today, we'll be talking about sleep and how it affects college students.

I know college is supposed to be the time of your lives ( for me it was ) but have you ever really thought about how it affects students sleep patterns? I discovered a great resource for more information from the mattress company called Casper that introduced me to Sleep Cards which basically gives a break-down to some of the sleep-related issues college students experience. Keep reading to learn more about these issues.

There is no way I can "turn off" my mind so what I do to combat all the busyness is to write all my thoughts down on a writing pad and create my "to-do" list for the next day. This helps so much as some of the things on my mind are now on paper and I feel at ease.

A great mattress makes a world of difference when you toss and turn. Casper has really great, high-quality mattresses that are worth the investment. If this is a little out of your budget, invest in a quality mattress topper and some fluffy new pillows.

Never go to bed hungry! I love tea and I try to have a cup before bed as well as my favorite snack. People have said warm milk before bed has a soothing effect that helps you fall asleep quicker -- so you can try that as well.

Turn off that noise! You might live in an environment where you cannot control the noise so earplugs, your own headphones to drown out the outside noise is also good. Whatever works for you.

For this, I usually watch a movie or read a book until I fall asleep. Just find an activity that makes you tired and runs with that.

I've tried getting up the same time I do on weekdays I do on the weekend and it works! Our bodies naturally wake up the same time each day to make it a routine and in no time you'll kick that "Sunday-Monday" insomnia.

I don't know about anybody else but I can't sleep if the room is too hot or too cold! As the card suggests, choose a happy medium of 65 degrees for the most comfortable sleep.

Hello there, 😃😃😃
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a small favor to ask. People are reading the Haute Lifestyle than ever since our recent placement in the South Florida Blogger Awards but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. We do not have investors and everything Blog related is funded out of pocket– we want to keep our journalism as fun and open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Our articles takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our perspective and voices matter – because it might well be your perspective, too.

If everyone who reads our posts, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much
more secure.
