Sexy in Shanghai | The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2017

Thursday, November 30, 2017

The secret destination of the highly anticipated Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was revealed on Tuesday as Shanghai! Each year the Lingerie brand has it's highly popular Fashion Show featuring the latest pieces from the brand as modeled by their Angels broadcasted on CBS.

The night commenced with an uptempo rock performance by international superstar Harry Styles formerly of One Direction who's voice seemed to guide the steps of Candice Swanepoel who opened the show in a Red and Black plaid set with silver details and accessorized with a silver studded belt. This portion of the show could only be described as "Hardcore" as elements of Rock & Roll was infused to showcase the collaboration with Olivier Rousteing, Fashion Designer and Creative Director of Balmain where his studded leather jacket was the star.

Lais Riberio
As the show progressed more designs were revealed -- there were feathers, accessories and thigh high boots all around! There was entertainment by Miguel, Jane Zhang, Leslie Odom Jr and renowned Pianist Yundu Lu. One of the staple items at every Victoria's Secret Fashion show is the Million Dollar bra which was this year dubbed as "Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra" which this year was worn by the stunning Lais Riberio for a hefty price of 2 million dollars. As much as we love lingerie and a great Bra ... 2 million dollars for a bra is a bit out there ... a lot of there.

There's no getting around it -- the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was the biggest and best ever!

Check out a few Highlights of the night!

Things you might have missed at Miss Universe 2017

Monday, November 27, 2017

Miss Universe is always one of the most exciting, most talked about and most glamorous pageants that is highly anticipated by almost everyone. This year was no different as there were lots of moments that made you go "oh my God". If you were tuned in to the pageant last night, here are a few things you might have missed.

Miss USA did NOT make the cut: For the first time in a long time, the crowd favorite Miss USA did not make the top 5! Eeek Egad! Miss USA is Kara McCullough and is a Physical Scientist at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. We kinda felt like she had brain and beauty but lacked personality -- there was a disconnect between her and the audience and the judges.

Ashley Graham as Backstage host: Ashley is a full figured model who made headlines when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Readers worldwide (mainly men) felt that Ashley was not the ideal choice for the cover due to her being slightly larger than the usual models. Ashley was never one to back down from a challenge and it was great seeing her backstage hosting a pageant of "modelsque" women and she looked great doing it!

Steve Harvey Messed up ... again!: Uncle Steve done messed up again and we caught it. The comedian announced Miss Universe Jamaica as the 1st Runner up when she is actually 2nd runner up! We caught that Steve.

The Crowd Booed: As soon as Davina was announced as "1st Runner Up" scores of Boo's were heard from the audience as they were not satisfied with the placement. Flashback to 2010 and 2014 where Jamaica was the obvious winner and was not announced as such-- does anybody remember who won those titles? All we remember is Jamaica dominating those pageants.

Fergie was Flat: The minute I heard that Fergie would be one of the entertainers of the night I was ecstatic! "Fergie Ferg" was back I thought--wrong! Fergie was so flat last night it was like she was trying to find her voice somewhere in the audience. The beautiful evening gowns were a nice distraction.

Columbia speaks English?? This was so confusing, when Columbia got her question she got an interpreter. However, when it was down to her and Miss South Africa they were seen talking on stage (Columbia more than South Africa) What exactly was she saying that had them both shook.

What to Expect the First Day of Law School: Things they don't tell you

Your first struggle to open the faculty's heavy doors is a mere foreshadowing of tests of strength to come. You may be greeted by the aroma of instant coffee; the hero of all who dare facing lectures without a sweater or good night's sleep. Your eyes dazzle at the alcoves where thrilled peers sit sandwiched beneath notice boards beaming with faculty excitement. Although there is in fact a directory at the foyer, you will get lost if you aren't already. You might also try to decipher who, of all the persons passing by looking stern and very lawful, are your lecturers and not just older peers, but find yourself sitting next to the best of your guesses anyway.

Soon, you'll make your way to your first class; the one that will christen your crisp pages with Latin terms and scribbles from trying to keep up with trains of thought. You greet the custodian, the security guard and the faculty fish, who will all remain unbothered as your faculty life gets hectic. Is there a seat saved for you amongst your high school clique? Or will you latch onto the first fascinating accent you hear (but can't quite understand)? In this new chapter of your life, whoever you choose to surround yourself with can be the stepping-stone, or stumbling block on your way to the Bar. Wherever you sit, don't ever mistake the crevices of the theater as refuge from the limelight of participation. The mic gets to every eager learner nestled under the nose of the lecturer, just as much as those who saunter in late and crawl into the what-lef' seats. When you look around and notice that everyone is seated but you still hear a strange, amplified sound of students settling in, it's not the ghosts of those who dropped out, just your friendly neighborhood WJC joining your class via video call. From that moment, note that along with your tutorial sheets and highlighters, be sure to pack a bit of patience, because technical issues are no stranger to this union.

Your lecturer will arrive with your first gifts: course outlines and scores of slides you will try to note keenly- before discovering it's all online. There's no telling what your lecturers will be like at first glance. If you're fresh from secondary school, whatever your teachers warned about the callousness of tertiary educators is likely to be inaccurate. They do take note of consistent tardiness and incomplete assignments; they abhor when you chat during explanations; and some certainly will remember your name although there are hundreds of others to consider. Ironically, just like high school, most students seem to eventually acquire a "designated seat", so be mindful of where you plant yourself.

Despite noting every tip, joke and quote the guest speaker at orientation made, you might still be anxious about how your faculty life will unfold. You still aren't sure how course overrides work, you don't own even half a textbook and your schedule has that one class that's basically past your curfew. However you may feel, these woes are guaranteed to pass. Whether your first moments are filled with fear or excitement, they will probably be the easiest of your faculty life. In the words of your (future favourite) contract law lecturer, you shouldn't go in as dumpling and come out flour. Therefore, these first few moments are also your last as the person you were when you first entered. You are now one step closer to being a learned friend, and you should only expect great things from yourself.
