How Fenty Beauty Shook the Beauty Industry

Thursday, September 14, 2017

Hate it or love it --Rihanna is dominating 4 industries right now! Music, Charity, Apparel and Cosmetics. Rihanna is snatching "edges" left, right and center from Youtube to Instagram!

On September 7th, 2017 as the clock struck midnight, Fenty Beauty was released at Sephora which sent social media in a frenzy. The Bajan beauty launched her new cosmetics line with the help of a few popular faces on Social Media from Joanne the Scammer to Jackie Aina and with a series of live videos.

Finally! Somebody got it right for the black girls!

With the tagline "Beauty for all" we were introduced to 40 shades of foundations from the fairest in the land all the way down to the most beautiful shade of mahogany!

Rihanna managed to do what traditional cosmetics brands failed to do throughout the years which is to include all black girls. Black does not just come in the standard 3 shades of deep, dark deep and extra deep, which fits no one! It's quite sad that these brands have been around for so long and was not able to get it right. The line includes Primer, Foundations, Contour-sticks, Highlighters, Make-up brush, sponge and Highlighter. A few things that makes the brand stand out are the packaging, shape of the products and the fact that some of them are magnetic and stick together which makes it travel friendly.

On the heels of Fenty Beauty, several other popular make-up brands took to social media to showcase their wide range of darker shade foundations. Rihanna's shook up the beauty industry by filling a glaring gap as it relates to foundation shade options for black women!

The fact that the brand is an inclusive beauty line that is clearly genuine, makes it alright in our book!

What do you think of Rihanna's "Fenty Beauty"?
