Hair Skin Love Jamaica was successful in bringing together women from the Natural Hair Community as well as "Healthy Hair Enthusiasts" for a Meet Up that was based around developing and uplifting women of colour in various aspects of life. Though it was a hair meet up, patrons left the event with an earful that could undoubtedly inspire and encourage them to live a healthy and wholesome life.
The meet up hosted an array of unique and positive brands and companies that had the opportunity to present their goods and services that not only promoted healthy hair, but also went as far as healthy skin, body and fashion. Let us take a quick look at these brands.
The Grierfield Farms beautified the patio at the entrance of the venue with their various fruits and vegetables. Their slogan, “Sustainable farming for Sustainable living” summarizes the aim of the company which specializes in cultivating and growing 100% organic produce for the local market in order to nourish and sustain society.
Fruiti Smoothies Organic took us on a similar route with their healthy juices and smoothies which were made right in front of us. These delicious drinks were made form completely organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds to fuel and nourish the body.
Shavuot served us healthy hot beverages. Their flavored tea bags are all made from plants and trees such as Moringa, Soursop, Ginger, Cerasee and Cinnamon. These teas provide numerous benefits that naturally detoxify and cleanse the body and offer vitamins and minerals.
For those with a sweet tooth, Delectables served chocolatey goodness in the form of decadent brownies. The company that started out baking brownies solely for the UWI campus, have now branched out to other private and government organizations and companies, offering affordable, customizable and delicious sweet treats at events.
