7 Biggest MakeUp Trends for Summer

Saturday, April 30, 2016
Spring has Sprung and Summer is fast approaching. In my neck of the woods it is hottt!! I can literally see and feel Summer from my desk ...lol . Keep reading as we share the Biggest Make-U Trends for Summer.

Glossy Lids: If you have naturally oily lids this trend is right up your alley! Secret Product: Vaseline! Yaaas ladies ( and gents ) Vaseline is back!

Negative Space Eyeliner: Think Lauren Conrad in "The Hills" where she only lined the outer half of her lids without meeting it at the corner. This look is bold and retro chic. The lines also need to stay in place and last long.

Non Touring: This sounds like the opposite of an Artiste not going on tour ...lol Non Touring is simply a softer way or contouring. The lines are not as sharp and obvious as regular contouring. In Summer , people are outside more and wear lighter or no Makeup, this look will be perfect.

Sandbagging: Summer brings heat and will make your Makeup melt .. who wants that? Nobody! Sandbagging involves caking on loose makeup underneath the eyes and around the bottom edges of the lips to absorb grease for a matte , ultra smooth finish.

Lip Oils: Yes you heard that right .. Lip Oils! Remember in the early 00' when "Juicy Oils" were a thing? These used on top of Lipstick will give your pout a wet , glossy look. Less is more with this trend; you don't wanna look like you got lost in a bucket of chicken.

Color Lashes: This bold look was seen on the Runways of Fashion Week and makes a statement in by them-self! You can mix and match the colors if you really want to stand out.

Glitter Tears: This was seen as Coachella and is very ... pretty?  All you need is sparkles to create the tears and moisturizer to make them stay. This is great to cover dark under eye circles.

Waah Gwaan Popcaan??

Friday, April 29, 2016

As you know one of the things we don't do here at Haute People is Gossip ... there is enough of that Online and in life. If something is current and hot we will report it every now and again.

You all know Drake right? For the people in my age group Drake played "Jimmy" the jock who got shot and ended up in a wheelchair on Canadian Teen Series "Degrassi" , ( he didn't start from the bottom ) Soooo Drake was working on an Album Views ( from the 6 ) which was released yesterday which had a track called "Controlla" which featured Jamaican Artiste Popcaan. Drake had Popcaan's picture on his Instagram for the past months with quotes like "unruly boss" and Popcaan was promoting Drake as well.

The Album dropped and people soon realized that Popcaan was some how left off the track . Of course people are upset and some are even saying it's a Marketing strategy and there is another "surprise" track with Popcaan to be released that will "mash up the place".

Popcaan seems un-bothered by the entire thing as he released his latest track "Ova Dweet" which is a dance enthused track that is more upfront than Drake's track.

Whatever it is .. we will be watching and reporting.

5 Millennial Food Trends in 2016

Today's dinner table looks no way it did 10 years ago; the millennial's table features a Smartphone or some device just so we can stay connected. Each plate might even be different ( choices ) one plate might be meats , one vegetarian and the other paleo. Here are 5 Millennial Food Trends in 2016.

Green Juice: Though not food per say, by definition that is Green Juice features power leafy greens and also sweeter fruits. Green Juice is said to have enough nutrients to be a meal in itself but most Millennials opt for adding it to their daily meal. As the name suggests it is green in color and is usually blended or thrown in a juicer in a concept called "juicing".

Gluten Free: I know you have probably heard or seen millennials on YouTube living the Gluten Free Lifestyle. How dare Restaurants not have an extensive Gluten Free Menu , we don't want to be bloated for out Outfit of the Day ( OOTD ) Photos. Gluten is the general name for Proteins found in wheat , rye , barley and triticale ; think of Gluten as Food Glue as it helps food to maintain their shape.

Shakes: This sounds crazy right? Just Shakes ... shakes as a meal! That's unheard of. I've seen where many YouTubers have made reference to Brands like Shakeology . Shakeology has branded themselves as "The Healthiest Meal Replacement Shake " , they are protein packed Shakes which have enough nutrients to be enjoyed as Meals. You can opt to make your own Shake from scratch or you can purchase them in powder form. Check out Shakeology HERE

Less = Less: What am I talking about? Well , most millennials are taking more things out of their diets than they are adding. Oops! There goes all those Carbs , Gluten and Sugars. You will notice that the portions might look the same but! Everything is "something free".

What I ate Posts: This one is different ( obviously ) thing is; Millennials are promoting a healthy lifestyle by doing what they do best ... share it online. Millennials are taking to the Internet to showcase "what I ate posts" and even showing their grocery shopping trips and items they've purchased. These posts help people to be conscious of what they put in their bodies and how to make better food choices.

What are you eating? Tell us below

Introducing CaribShopper

Thursday, April 28, 2016

CaribShopper is the Caribbean’s global e-commerce solution. We provide Caribbean consumers a platform through which to purchase items directly from international online retailers, companies that would otherwise be inaccessible to the Caribbean population. Our patent pending app, platform, and payment system give users access to 90+ USA online retailers and more than 8.5 billion products combined.
At CaribShopper, we understand the needs of our Caribbean people. We are passionate about opening a new world of shopping experience to our Caribbean consumers. With just the click of a button, our Caribbean consumers now have access to a global shopping market place that have been denied them for far too long. With the CaribShopper App the world is now literally at the Caribbean shopper’s fingertips.
The CaribShopper App enables people in the Caribbean to shop directly with online retailers in the United States simply by selecting whatever item they want, and buy it instantly online using our secure payment system. The item is then shipped directly to their home or can be picked up at any of our local pickup stations located throughout the Caribbean within days.
CaribShopper was officially launched in Jamaica in March 2016. Haute People was at the official launch and was able to capture a few pictures and of course see what this new Shopping site is all about and what the have to offer.
MY EXPERIENCE
I was given $3,000 jmd| $24.93 usd to try this new service. I will be talking about the pros and cons at the end of this review and my overall experience.
PRO'S
- The website is user friendly: I like that the website layout is clean yet attractive. The site is easy to navigate and I was not bombarded with flashing banners and things telling me to sign up.

- You do not need a Credit Card to Shop: As an International Shopper this is always a BIG concern. All you need to do is go to any store where phone cards are sold , ask for the amount you need and you will receive it via the GO Top up machine.
- Great Customer Service: A day after I made my purchase ( checked out ) I received a phone call from a rep who pleasantly introduced herself and told me about the company in a non-salesy way. She also let me know about the delivery options and also a coupon code for 30% off my next purchase on the site.

- Variety of Stores: I actually have another Blog that is dedicated to Online Shopping where I give tips ( shameless plug ) and this is something I always look for! Sometimes these sites have limited stores for you to purchase from or the stores available are really random and downright weird. CaribShopper has sites like : Amazon , Bath & Body Works , Old Navy and so much more.
- Door to Door Delivery: If you are like me and like convenience , you will love that you can get your items delivered to your door. That's right... your door! You don't have to leave home go to a courier service office , wait for them to find your package then sign a book. It comes to your door.
CONS
- Shipping is expensive: Child! Get ready to pay a pretty penny for shipping. The cost of my item was $2.93 and Shipping was $22! I guess its because there is an option to have it delivered to your door , but it's still alot in my opinion.
Overall Thoughts
9/10 I like the convenience of the website , the customer service and the fact that you don't need a Credit Card to shop. This opens the door for a wider range of shoppers and for more people to get in on Online Shopping. The only thing I don't like is the high price for shipping. I could purchase other items for that price. I would definitely recommend the site to a friend to experience for themselves.

More to Prince's Death

Prince was found dead in his home last week and the world is saddened because they've lost a Music Icon. It was revealed that Prince's death was due to overdose of Prescription Medication which he used for sleeplessness and pain.

However! Today it is being said that Prince found out that was diagnosed with Aids 6 months ago and some how died from that!!?!! Crazy right? Its also been revealed that the Purple Rain Singer contracted HIV in the 90's which then developed into AIDS. According to sources he opted out of treatment because he believed that prayer would heal him. This all seems rather strange since Prince died suddenly without leaving a Will. If you knew you were gonna die or had a critical illness and built a fortune like Prince .. wouldn't you have a will somewhere?

There's always more to the story ... and we'll be watching and bringing you the latest.

Kelly Ripa is Back!

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

After all he recent speculations and Kelly's sudden disappearance .. Kelly Ripa is back to work and things seem normal. Kelly came back in a Red Dress and addressed the viewers and the ABC Network and stated that after being with the network for over 30 years .. she deserves some time to think for a day or two.

Michael who would usually pull Kelly's chair was the voice in the Background as Kelly took Camera to get some #Respek. Things seemed back to normal, however Michael will still play host over at Good Morning America (GMA ) where he will make $10,000,000 per year.

He did however give credit to Kelly ( finally ) who he credited for his successful T.V career and for believing in him. It is being alleged that Kelly might quit the show entirely unless she gets a Co-Host in the range of Anderson Cooper. Michael is slated to go on GMA officially in May where he will have his official send off at LIVE.

Preparing for StyleWeek 2016

In less that a month one of the most highly anticipated Fashion Event in Kingston, Jamaica will be underway. Style Week 2016 will be May 26 - 29 ,2016 at some of the most popular locations in Kingston. We here at Haute People is very excited as this is one of our favorite Fashion Events and we are here to help you get prepared.

1. Tickets/ Media Accreditation: Unless you are a sponsor of the Event , you will need some way of getting in. If you are Media ( which Includes Bloggers ) your name is probably on "the list" and you should receive a schedule as well as Invites & or passes. If you are a Fashion Enthusiasts now is the time to get your funds together to towards purchasing the tickets.

2. The Outfit: Ladies and gents .. this is the most important part of the Event! All eyes will be on you whether you believe it or not. You need to decide if you will be going to all the events or just a few or maybe even one. Whatever the case ... you need ensure your outfit game is on point. It is a good idea to wear some of the pieces from the Designers on the show ( local and international ) if you don't have that connection there are so many amazing Boutiques that will be more than happy to find you the perfect outfits.

3. Transportation: So you've already planned your outfit and you also have your Ticket or passes .... How will you get there? Ladies , I say this to you standing outside after an Event has ended hoping that somebody you know will magically show up and take you home is never a good idea; nor s it safe. If you drive ... ensure you have enough gas for the Event and If you don't drive will you go with friends or charter a reliable Taxi Service? Ensure your ride is secure before you go to the Event.

4.Your Crew: Going to Events with people who are fun makes everything better right? Sometimes! Get your "crew" together before the Event and plan arrival time , outfits and so on. Tip : Make sure the crew you go with is into Fashion as a Fashion Show might be boring and pointless to a non-fashion lover.

5.Keep Up to Date: Be sure to visit Social Media to see if there are any changes in Venue . Time and even Designer just so you are not disappointed.

5 Ways to Spend Less

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

I don't know about anybody else but the less money I can spend ( to save ) is the better for me. It means I will be able to do much more with less if you know what I'm saying. Keep reading as I share a few tips with how you can spend less.

Never Spend More Than you Make

Guys! You and your Bank Account knows how much you make on a monthly basis. This rule is very simple ... never spend more than you make! You will be in so much debt you wished you were in another dimension. Stop hyping and flossing and be real with yourself.

Only Buy What You Need

This is where so many of us go wrong ( myself included ) We buy things we don't need or have any intention of ever using. Do I really need Gloves since I live in Jamaica? Necessities are Food , Clothing and Personal Care items ... things that you can't do without on a daily basis.

Create a Budget

This goes back to the first point but in a stricter sense. So you know how much you make right? Well obviously! Now you need to make a plan and divide things in terms of how much you wish to spend . Rent/Mortgage , Utilities , Grocery , Petrol and so on should all have a set amount that you commit to each month and never go over that amount.

Pay Bills On time

This one is a bit strange right? I'm going somewhere with it .. I promise. There are companies that offer you a dollar or percentage amount off if you pay your Bills on time. There are other companies that add a late fee when your payment is late. Which do you think will be better? The first option. No matter how small the amount is that you save for paying on time or early it adds up and if you commit to putting that amount aside each month , you will be pleasantly surprised how much you have by the end of the year.

Keep up with your Commitments

I like how Shop Online and sign up for various subscription programs online and completely forget that I did. By the time I check my statements online a payment was already made that could have been either completely avoided or saved. Please , Please keep up with what you commit to as this could save you so much and cause you to spend less.
