Best Dressed Men at the Oscars 2016!

Monday, February 29, 2016

The Oscars was last night and despite the controversy , we here at Haute People would like to shed light on some of the Men. Awards Shows and major events tend to highlight women Fashion from head to toe  but the mean "Went hard at the Oscars". Here are a few of our favorite looks.

Eddie Redmayne was one of our faves who stepped out of the "Oscar Dresscode" Box by going with a suit that had Velvet touches. Traditional Oscar wear for men is a tailored Black Tuxedo.

TV Host Michael Strahan is one of those guys really tall guys who has to have most if not all his garments custom made to fit his frame. Michael stepped out in the Blue Suit which was a bold risk that only he could pull off.

Gucci was the Designer of choice for the adventurous and ever changing Actor Jared Leto. Jared is seen here in a Black Tuxedo with red lining and a red flower for a pop of color.

5 Jamaican Womenswear Designers You Need to Know

Out of Many One People is the motto of Jamaica. Most know this little Island in the West Indies as the home of the legendary Reggae Icon, Bob Marley but this vibrant Island is filled with talented people. Since its Fashion Season, we thought it made sense to shed light on 5 Womenswear Designers you need to know right now.

DrennaLuna

With Miss Universe 4th Runner Up Kaci Fennell as the face of the brand ( on the website ) it is a no brainer why Jamaica's top Socialites sing the praises of this Designer. DrennaLuna's pieces feature ready to wear and custom pieces fit for the woman who is sophisticated yet wants to make a bold statement.

ASD by Ayana Dixon

"Fashion is an extension of a person's personality" is an expression of this talented young Designer who's goal is to become the Caribbean's most successful Fashion House. ASD 's pieces are for the young fashionista who likes a sleek , clean look with a few prints and patterns in between. Ayana was a finalist on Jamaica's first reality series Mission Catwalk on Season 1.

Cedella Marley

This Irie Designer is one of Jamaica's most talked about sensations.sensations. Cedella has found an innovative way to add flare to her designs by including elements of the Rastafarian culture. The pieces are bold and make a statement by themselves without even the help of accessories. These pieces are for the woman who is comfortable embracing a style that is unique to her and not afraid to express that ... in color!

Courtney Washington

Who knows a woman's body like a man? That is exactly why Courtney Washington is one of the most sought after Womenswear Designers in Jamaica. Courtney Washington is known for his signature flowy "easy breezy" tailored pieces which can easily make a woman feel like royalty.

Flowerchild::1999

When you think of Flower Child a few things come to mind which includes words like : soft . delicate and playful. This is exactly what Kaycian Bourke wanted to express with this line, I describe these pieces as fun and easy to wear. It is for the girl who likes to be put together with minimal effort.

These Designers are not only talented but innovative , they have used their talents to create a successful career for themselves that can be deemed as non traditional. For more information on each Designer , you can check out their respective Social Media Profile or click on the highlighted links in the post.

Finding your Wedding Style

Friday, February 26, 2016
“Not All Brides are created Equal”

To one Bride, a Dream Wedding is one that takes place in a grand Ballroom while for another it’s a simple Backyard Wedding with the closest friends and family. Planning a Wedding is all about telling “Your Story” and incorporating your personal style throughout aspects of the Wedding.

When you focus on the little things that show guests what are important to you, your wedding is guaranteed to be your very own wow.  In order to have a Wedding Style that is unique or special to you, you have to know your own personal style. If you are a free spirited, go with the flow type of person your style is more Bohemian and a Beach Wedding might suit you.  Once you have found your Wedding Style, the next thing you need to do is have that reflected throughout your décor.  There are 3 main Wedding Styles that you can draw inspiration from: Outdoors, Intimate and Extravagant.

Outdoor: Think about comfort! No guest wants to feel uncomfortable through a long Wedding ceremony.Think of including items like Tents, Decks and even hand-held Fans in your Budget just so your guest can breathe happy and are comfortable while you exchange vows with your partner.

Intimate Soiree: As it relates to intimacy in Weddings, it’s all about creating an ambience. This can easily be created with lighting at key moments throughout the wedding. During the ceremony, you could use brighter lights so the guests can see your faces clearly from a distance while at the Reception you can use softer and warmer lighting to set the mood.

Extravagant:  This is where you can get pull out all the stops! Crystal Chandeliers... Yes please! Push the blah aside and think of accent or focal pieces that will be conversation starters and will have your guests talking about your Wedding for yours to come. Apart from the décor, this Style of Wedding can be expressed in the Dress and Tuxedo, instead of a simple White Dress, how about one that has Diamonds and Lace throughout.

No two Weddings are ever alike and when you are in the planning process, you should be keen on incorporating your personal style throughout your Wedding.

Tuesday, February 23, 2016
Weddings can get quite expensive and many couples end up paying for Weddings even years after the event has taken place.  If you can find ways to ease up on certain elements of the Wedding, then you should definitely capitalize on them. No wedding reception is complete without the removal of the Garter; these dainty little things are quite expensive. Here is how you can make your very own customized Garter for your special day.

You Will Need:
·         Stretchy, lace ribbon
·         Rhinestone appliqué Needle and thread
·         Hot fix rhinestones and rhinestone setter or iron (optional)
Step 1: Cut the Lace
·         Make sure the lace you buy is stretchy so it won't fall down your leg.
·         Measure the lace before you cut — the final product can also be worn as a headband, so measure accordingly.

Step 2: Sew
·         Find the centre point of the lace.
·         Sew on the appliqué.
Step 3: Add Rhinestones (Optional)
·         Arrange the hot fix rhinestones around the appliqué.
·         Once you finalize your design, set with an iron or rhinestone setter.
Step 4: Finish Up
·         Turn the lace inside out and sew together.

Voila! Your very own Garter

The Tuff Gong International and Rose Hall Developments team pulled off a successful staging of the One Love Music Festival on February 5, 2016. The Event was held at the lawns of the Rose Hall Great House and is a fundraising event to celebrate the Bob Marley's life and legacy. This is done by supporting life changing projects in education , the environment and poverty relief through the Bob Marley Foundation in partnership with the Rose Hall Developments and Sandals Foundations.

The One Love Concert was headlined by Akon , in his first featured performances in "many moons" , with 45 Billboard Hot 100 Songs over 3 million units sold and global goodwill flowing from his groundbreaking "Akon Lights Africa" outreach all to his credit. The Event also featured:  Kymani Marley , Skip Marley , Nadine Sutherland , Tessanne Chin, Ikaya , Iba Mahr , Tanto Metro and Devonte , Teflon , Kranium , CK , Devin Di Dakta , Di' Burns , Sabrina the Diva and International Duo Nico and Vinz. The event was hosted by ZJ Sparks and Iceman; this was my first live show and I loved the overall vibe of the Concert. Clean Music , Nice Open Space and Good People. Trends from the Runway: New York Fashion Week 2016

Friday, February 19, 2016

It is officially Fashion Season! As the weather changes , so does Fashion and Trends. New York Fashion is one of the highly anticipated Fashion Event of the season that attracts Celebrities , Socialites , Editors and of course Bloggers. While we could not attend the event , we found a few noteworthy trends of the season.

Modern Grunge

It was all about dark colors and dramatic eye make-up for Models on the runway. Think of a more High Fashion early 2000's Avril Lavine mixed with Lady Gaga. Designers like Marc Jacobs made a bold statement on the Runway with this look.

Tropical Paradise

Now , there is this new fascination with the "Colours of the Caribbean" on the Runway. Tommy Hilfiger incorporated elements of the Caribbean in the form of the Maxi Dress.

Paper Bag Waist

For a person who is not info Fashion , this sounds absolutely crazy! The Paper waist was quite popular in the 80's & 90's , remember Blossom? These casual- comfy trousers are back in style!

70's Inspired Suede

I sincerely believe Suede is one of those things that never gets out of style. If you thought Designers were over this trend , think again. This type of Suede is a lot softer than what you are probably used to and will definitely be an investment piece.

The Flat Mule

This is not my cup of tea as I'm more of a heels kinda girl. I'm just not a fan of Mules as they are not cute. Designers like Alexander Wang and surprisingly Victoria Beckham was just a few who brought this shoe trend back to life!

Have you seen any of the NYFW Shows? What are your favorite trends so far?

Thursday, February 18, 2016
“A woman’s hair is her beauty”

We’ve all heard this expression in some many different ways. If you can’t grow it naturally, buy it! After all we live in modern times where you can get “hair for days” in a variety of lengths and textures. I recently came across Mofain.com and decided to see what they offer.

Mofain.com is a cross border online store selling 100% Human Hair Products. There is a wide assortment of Hair Weave and Products on the website and you can definitely find a variety of hair textures and products to choose from. The thing I really like about the site is that they off various payment options so you are able to shop anywhere in the wold without a hassle. The website is extremely user friendly and easy to navigate which makes browsing a breeze. When you visit the site, I would recommend getting a cup of tea and a snack as you will be on for a while looking at the wide range of products available to choose from. The visual layout of the site is well thought out, you definitely will not get bored scrolling.

Mofain is committed to being the top Seller of hair worldwide by offering high quality products and at even cheaper prices. There is also a custom made service if you are not able to find a style of hair Online or you simply need something custom made. One of the things I like on the website is that each hair you see or purchase has a certificate of authenticity which means if it’s says it 100% Human Hair Wefts, you will in fact receive 100% Human Hair. Shipping is fast and effective and the products are shipped the same day they are purchased.

Ladies, Curly Hair Wefts is in and if you are wondering what length and texture to get you can definitely get it on the Website. You can get Curly Weave in Natural Black and any other colour and even “Ombre Hair". One of the main things I look for when buying hair is the price: you can get quality hair on the site without breaking the bank, crazy right?

If you are looking to change up your Hair for Fashion Season and on wards, you can definitely check out the Mofain Hair.com, I guarantee you will be back.
