The Soul Train Awards 2016 | The Good , Bad and Questionable

The Soul Train Awards is one of those events that usually comes and goes. This is partly because it's not a live Event and aired at a later date in November. This year , thanks to Social it was one of the trending topics this week!


The 2016 Soul Train Music Awards was held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 6, 2016. It will later be aired on Centric and BET on November 27, 2016. This year this was a spirited lineup of performers which include D.R.A.M , Anderson.Paak , BJ the Chicago Kid , India Arie , Yuna , Ro James and Eric Benet.  The show also played tribute to Brandy and producer/artiste Teddy Riley. 



Highlights of the show included host Erykah Badu and D.R.A.M performing in what looked like a glow in the dark set-up and Brandy performed a medley of her greatest hits which includes "Almost Doesn't Count". New comer Tetanna Taylor was the talk of the night as she was awarded for her role in Kanye Wests' Video fade. The audience was also treated the second annual " Soul Cypher" where artistes like Tyrese, Ne-Yo, Angie Stone and the legendary Gladys Knight performed a medley of 90' hit. 



The overall vibe of the night was one the was reminiscent of the 90's era where everyone sang their hearts out and danced. Erykah Badu in true "Erykah Badu" spirit rifted on Donald Trump and Alien life in America and also a colorful monologue where she stated "The Future is Black". Be sure to tune in November 27 ,2016 on Centric.
