Choosing a Blog Platform

Tuesday, September 20, 2016
Hi Guys!

Welcome to another exciting feature of  "The Business of Blogging" . As you can tell by Today's topic , we will be looking at choosing a platform for your Blog. Let's jump into in since we are a tad late today.

A Blog Platform is where you Blog will live ... essentially. It's the place you choose for your Blog. The primary function of Blogging Platforms is to provide users with a way to create a web presence  that also allow the users to create and publish content without knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language ( HTML ).

Blog Platforms

  • Wordpress.org
  • Blogger
  • TypePad
  • Tumblr
  • Moveable Type
  • b2evolution
  • ExpressionEngine
  • Live Journal
  • Drupal
  • Joomla

With so many Blog Platforms to choose from .. how do you really choose the one that's right for you? The most important factors to consider are: price , ease of use and functionality. Personally , I selected Blogger because I have no knowledge of coding , web design or technical stuff and It's really easy to use. I also like that when I decided to purchase a domain , it was an easy transition since Google offers me that option. The most important thing to consider is your needs ... you will hear so many things from people who are telling you one platform is better than the other etc. Choosing a Blog platform is one of the first steps you will take in your Blogging journey and believe it or not , it is one of the most important steps!

In order to avoid headaches and problems in the future , spend time to evaluate the current Blog platforms to see which one is the right fit for you. The great thing about Blogging is that you get to make as many mistakes you can since there is no one standing over you saying things have to be done a certain way.

Stay tuned for the Re-launch of our Blog Course that is in simple language and it goes deep to help you monetize your Blog.

  1. I went over to self hosted WP pretty quickly and I am so glad I did. It's really powerful.
