As we expected , Britney Spears opened the show in fine style ( we loooove Britney Spears here at Haute People ) so she can do no wrong. The only thing I didn't like about the performance was the selection of songs ... I felt she should have done more songs from the "Britney" Album then work her was done to "In the Zone" Album and! she should have performed her breakout hit "Baby One More Time".
I felt the chemistry between Ludacris and Ciara was a bit off and even forced. They have been friends for over 10 years but it seemed they met before the show ... the jokes dragged on and that 'play by play" thing they did was kinda awkward. Jokes aside ( or lack thereof ) their outfit changes were on point! Ciara had a great Glam Squad and her wigs were goooood ( Wendy Williams would approve )
On to performances ... I must admit that after Britney's performance I sort of checked out of the show but I was able to flip back in time to see Justin Biebers' performance onward. The Biebs was weak lat night , the entire performance was lack luster. It was like he was sleep walking through his entire performance and can we talk about those distracting lights and singing along to his own tracks?? Not a good look.
Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato came to win last night and that they did ... in their performance. Nick was his usual charming self and Demi's vocals were on point. I liked when Joe Jonas was performing with his DNCE group and Nick , Demi and even Wilmer Valderama was cheering him on ... really good! Madonna's tribute to Prince was good and so was Kesha's.
The stand out performance of the night was Rihanna... that girl sang last night and looked good doing it. It's been so long to her actually sing that we almost forgot she could.
Big ups to "The Weeknd" was went home with 8 Awards last night and we got to hear him speak! The Weeknd has said in Magazines that he's not big on speeches and on camera interviews as he doesn't feel as accomplished as those people who went to school since he left ... you guessed it "On the weekend" to pursue music.
