Get Beautiful Eyes this Holiday Season

Tuesday, October 27, 2015
Christmas is weeks away! Some of the greatest things about the Holiday include good food , family and of course Holiday Make-Up Looks! Today , I will be introducing you to a great product that can be worn for all age groups ( from young to old )

I decided to shake things up by going dark .. nothings beats a good smoky eye when applied correctly. the great thing about Smoky Eye is that it is build-able.

You can seamlessly transition from day to night with one simple pallet like the Desert Nights Eye-shadow Palette from Measurable Difference. The great thing about this is the Price , Size and Color Payoff. It retails for $6.99 , Its small and lightweight ( great for travel ) and these little colors are really pigmented ( but not too much ).

For my Smoky Eye .. I always apply the darkest  color at the outer corner of the eye , the warmer  color towards the center , the glittery color near the inner corner and the lightest color on the lid. This  look of course will be completed with a Festive Outfit then I'm out the Door.

I've partnered with the Brand through Brandbacker  to give a lucky Reader one of these beautiful  Eyeshadow Palettes just in time for the Holidays. Enter Below

10 Ways to Help a Friend through Breast Cancer

Sunday, October 25, 2015

We are still in October which is deemed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the time when there is increase awareness of the disease, offer information and support to those affected by the disease and raise funds towards treatment and cure. Statistics show that the Disease affects African American women more than it does any other race in the world. This could be any female. Imagine, someone close to you getting the disease and it turns theirs both your worlds upside down.  Here are 10 things you can do to help them through.

Just be there: Don’t be weird or selfish and stay away from the person. This is when they will need you the most.
Help with Chores: Depending on the treatment they are undergoing, they will be weak and not have the stamina to do certain things.  You can help by cleaning their house and doing the dishes.
Keep inviting them Out: Just because they have Cancer doesn’t mean they are hermits.
Prepare Healthy Meals: Most patients with Cancer have reported a weird taste in foods and prefer Organic options. You can prepare this yourself or purchase from a restaurant that offers those options.
Don’t compare cases: Remember we are all different and so will be each case.
Ask Questions:  If there is something you are not clear on and want to know, don’t be afraid to ask.

Learn to Listen: This is different from “being there”. Take the time to develop active listening skills so you can empathize with what the person is feeling.
Help them to Find Insurance: This is just in case the worst happens. You want to ensure if anything happens all the bills and outstanding debt is covered as well as the Family. A cancer insurance policy can be used not only for treatment expenses not covered by major medical insurance, but also for extra child care that may be needed, transportation to and from the doctor or treatments, and even everyday living expenses, such as mortgage payments or groceries.

o    If you or a family member does end up being diagnosed with breast cancer, or any cancer, you want to be able to focus on recovery not finances, and a cancer insurance policy can help you do just that.
o    Plus, with Aflac’s recently introduced One Day PaySM initiative, which allows Aflac to process, approve and pay eligible claims in just a day, you can have the cash you need in hand faster than ever before
Go with them to Treatment:  Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Little Surprises:  This could be as small as a card.
Ask what they need: With the extensive list above, be sure to actually ask what they need.

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Aflac will be partnering with the American Association forCancer Research (AACR) again for its second annual “This Duck Wears Pink” campaign.
Aflac is selling a variety of campaign-related merchandise including the plush duck, hats and a breast cancer ribbon pin, with all the net proceeds going to the AACR for the specific purpose of funding research aimed at finding a cure for breast cancer. You can donate and shop for merchandise here.

DIY Pumpkin Spice Mask

Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Hi Guys!

Its October and that means Pumpkin Spiced Errrthang! There is just a great fascination with Pumpkins this season which is because of Halloween. For those of us who don't celebrate Halloween but still want to be #Trending , here is a simple DIY Pumpkin Spice Mask you can make ... your Face will thank you later :-)

STEP 1 : In a Bowl mix together 1/4 Pumpkin and 1 whole Egg. The Egg has certain nutrients that will tighten your skin. The Pumpkin should be cooked for best results and of course to make mixing it with the Egg easier.

STEP 2 : Add a few teaspoons of Honey. Everyone and their grandmas should have honey in their home so this ingredient should be easy to source. Honey has properties that act as anti-bacterial to help with break out and it also locks in moisture.

STEP 3 : ( OPTIONAL ) For an extra kick , add a tablespoon of Apple Cider or Cranberry Juice.

STEP 4:  Apply the Mask to you face and leave on for 15 - 20 minutes.

This is super easy to make and is great for your skin. The best part is you made it yourself and know what exactly went into it so you won't have to worry about harsh chemicals damaging your Skin.

What is your favorite DIY Face Mask?

The Importance of Giving Back to Inspire Change

Monday, October 19, 2015

Too often we get caught up in life and all the negativity that we forget simple acts of kindness and giving back. We live in a world where people only give to get back and there are some that don't give anything at all. Today I will be sharing how I give my time and knowledge to inspire young minds.

The global literacy rate for people aged 15 and over is 84.1% and for males is 88.6% which means over 16% of children who leave school at the primary level leave illiterate; how is this even possible? According to recent studies , these students are able to memorize certain passages or stories in order to pass a subject in school rather than actually learn it.

There are also those who are absent because of family issues or they live in volatile communities. Education and literacy has always been important to me so I ensure those around me have access to reading material and I dedicate that time to helping them to read and understand words and terms. I dedicate at least an hour 3 times per week to assist a child in school with Homework and to enhance their reading skills.

Boys learn differently than girls so I ensure their minds are entertained by using various methods like Interactive Video Games , Outdoor activities and other activities in between. Some of the material I use have to be sourced from other countries for example the Leap Pad Brand and this takes money to do so. One service I've relied on for this is Western Union to get money on time so I can purchase the items I need. Western Union's Chain of Betters Initiative believes that "when money moves , better things happen. A business expands , A family connects. A child goes to college. Emergency aid arrives the moment it's needed. An economy prospers , an opportunity opens , a community heals. Moving money for better means moving money for a better world- creating for individuals, businesses and for society. Western Union believes that when money moves around the world it creates a chain of good deeds to change lives in ways we would have never imagined.

I challenge you to do a selfless act to give back to others and inspire others to do the same. How does your money move to inspire change?

5 Things You Didn't know about Breast Cancer

Saturday, October 17, 2015

If you pay close attention to anything at all .. you would have realized that whenever October rolls around you see all Pink Everywhere! What does this all mean? Well it means in the month of October various aspects of Breast Cancer will be talked about just so people can know more about the disease. We all know about chemotherapy and all the other basic stuff but today I would like to share 5 things you might not know about the disease.

#1: AFRICAN AMERICAN ( BLACK ) women are more likely to die from the disease. I know you are probably saying "another thing killing our race", I share those same sentiments. Black women under the age of 45 are not only likely be to diagnosed with the disease but we are also most likely to die from it.

#2: Second Hand Smoke may increase the risk: I don't know about anybody else but I hate it when people randomly puff smoke on others in public!  If you have friends or family who smoke , be sure to stay away from them as they could be slowly giving you Cancer.

#3: A Woman Dies from Breast Cancer Every 13 Minutes: What a number! If you are in a room with 20 women ... 13 out of that 20 will die of that disease! According to the most recent data, from 2006, 191,410 American women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 40,820 died from it.

#4: EARLY DETECTION CAN INCREASE SURVIVAL RATE: Doctors believe that early detection of the disease can increase survival rate to 96%. Ladies, this is why you need to do mammograms as they are to be done.

#5: 80% of LUMPS ARE BENIGN: Found a lump in your Breasts? There is an 80% chance it could benign . Experts say that more than 80 percent of breast lumps turn out to be noncancerous and often harmless.

If there is anyway you can help to spread awareness to the disease please do it. Let's be active and try to do more than wear pink. There are numerous charities who raise money for Cancer research so you can give a small donation to those.

Get the Look Gigi Hadid Vma's Ft. New Cid i-glow Compact Shimmer Powder

Friday, October 16, 2015
I know you are probably thinking I'm really late on the Vma "Look Wagon " But as they say "better late than never". Gigi Hadid is a supermodel and a part of Taylor Swift's "Squad" and was one of the top looks at the Vma's held a few months ago. Gigi stunned in a gorgeous yellow dress , tanned skin and her strobe ( highlights ) was on "fleek" , she basically looked like a Golden Goddess. The look was beautiful but was a bit much for everyday wear ( imagine seeing a lady in gold glowing make-up .. dosent look natural )  I thought that I would create my own version of this look with the New Cid i-glow Compact shimmer Powder in Sirrocco I received from Hairtrade.com.

Hairtrade.com is one of the UK's leading online retailers of hair care and beauty products. They provide a wide range of hair extensions products and over 40 successful beauty, hair care and hair electrical brands. Every 3 months I am sent a product/s to review.
GiGi Hadid                                                                                              ME
The product retails for £10.99 on the Hairtrade website. As always I'm a sucker for nice packaging especially for beauty related items as I feel they should look good. It came in a white Box with silver accents on the top and bottom opening flaps which gave it a nice clean and classic look .  When you open the product it has a smell of back in the day make-up ... its not overpowering or funky it just smells like "make up".

This marbleized powder has a beautiful baked gold and bronzed look with flecks of glitter. Really , really pretty! and super pigmented.

A little goes a long way with this product as all you need to do is dust on the areas of your face where the sun would hit naturally; the forehead  , cheeks , nose , chin and temples.  I actually used this to do the entire Face Look ( minus foundation , lashes and eyeliner ) which makes it versatile.  It was used ( for me ) as eye shadow  , bronzer and highlighter to strobe and it was not cakey and went on the areas really easy without a fuss.

A big plus with the product is the compact and how thick it is in terms of protecting the product but still light enough to carry in your handbag for daily use.  It has a nice mirror which gets really close up on your face so that you can apply the product easily and evenly.  I like that it's easy to open as some of the New Cid Products I've used are hard to open and your fingers get all up in the product creating a mess and you end up wasting product.

This Product is great for Professional Make-up Artistes and Beginners simply because of it's versatility and how easy it is to use.

PRODUCTS used to create the GiGi Look: Make-Up Primer , Foundation , Black Eyeliner , False Lashes ( I cut one strip in 2 for each eye ) , clear lip-gloss and the New CID i-glow Compact Shimmer Powder. Visit hairtrade.com to check out this amazing Product.

Time to Create the Look 15-20 minutes
Expert Level : All Levels

Product Rating 10/10
