Style Week 2015 : Fashion Block Highlights

Saturday, May 30, 2015
Hi Guyssss!

Social Media is buzzing! Saint International is trending! On Sunday May 24, 2015, the Streets of New Kingston came to life as the highly anticipated Fashion event was in full swing. I unfortunately missed the other 2 days due to illness but! Sunday night could not be missed; after all , I just had to see my favorite Designers and fellow Bloggers. Here are my Highlights through Photos courtesy of Glympze Magazine.

My Thoughts: I loved the overall Production of the show, the grandeur and the over all vibe of the evening. This year, I felt the Male Designers dominated the Female Designers! My stand out males were Kurt Campbell , Dexter3d and Kevin O'Brian. I'll be on the look out for more high quality pieces from these Designers and the growth of their lines. It was nice to see Kai Newman , Tami Williams & Trissan Holder "rock" the runway and show us why they've earned the well deserved title of "highly sought after Model".

Get Dressed with Trendage!

In today's world , there is an APP for everything .. literally. We are all familiar with the concept of Online Shopping where we see an item online, click to purchase then bam! It's delivered. What most of those sites don't offer is the option to try on the clothing and Mix & Match a few outfits. I have discovered an APP & Website that remind of the days of "Paper Dolls", where outfits are interchanged to create several looks.

Using Trendage is super easy! It is downloadable on iPhone, iPad, Android or on the Web. Depending on the Device, you would select your gender MALE or FEMALE. Registration can be done by signing up with Facebook or E-mail which takes less than a minute , provided that you have all the required info.

The Model is to the left of the page , while the Clothing items are to the right. I like that there is a wide selection of modern clothing as most of the sites usually have clothing from another Century or just totally dated items. Once you have selected an outfit that you love, there is even an option to purchase the outfit (or pieces ) right then and there! Shoppers can choose items from 4 categories : Tops , Bottoms , Dresses , Necklaces & Shoes. There are items from stores like: Bloomingdales , Topshop & Zalora.

How cool is that! I like that this APP/ Website is user friendly and navigates the options easily so there is no confusion. This is great if you are an avid Online Shopper or a person who likes to Mix & Match pieces to create various looks!

Let's Talk about Pre-mature Aging

Tuesday, May 26, 2015
Ladies! There is something we have to talk about ... whether you are 16 or 25, we all think about getting older; it's only natural and inevitable. Thanks to the wonderful folks of Bel Essence we no longer have to worry.

WHAT IS PRE-MATURE AGING?

As the suffix pre suggests , it's basically showing signs of aging at a much earlier age which according to professionals is 35 ( shocking I know ). If you start seeing wrinkles , fine lines or parenthesis around the mouth , you have entered the premature aging zone!

CAN IT BE STOPPED?

No! But it can be controlled. This has to do with genetics; some people just age faster than others and of course Lifestyle plays a big role on the way you look. I'm sure we all know a person with whom we are the same age but they have a hard lifestyle while yours is a bit easier and it literally shows on their faces. Here are ways it can be controlled:

- Ant-aging Products/Creams
- Diet & Exercise
- Plastic Surgery ( at your own risk if you wish )
- Stop intentionally sunbathing | If you do, use SPF30+ Sunscreen

As a woman in her late 20's this has just entered my mind that I should be taking better care of my skin and the Bel Essence Intensive Anti-Aging Cream could not have come at a better time. It contains ingredients like: Grape seed Oil , Avocado Oil , Argan Oil , Sesame Oil , Coconut Oil , Shea Oil and Almond ( just to name a few ) as well as Peanut Oils . One thing I can say is that it does have a strong herbal scent in the bottle but somehow scentless once applied to the skin. I use it under my eyes ( since I wear glasses ) and along my "laugh lines". It has been a week and I can say I've seen a major difference. My under eyes don't have the shadow of the glasses and the under eye baggage have diminished.

It is recommended to use once per day but twice for better results. I would recommend this product to a friend just because of the way it works. ** If you are allergic to Peanuts, this is not for you as it contains Peanut Oils , which is outlined on the Bottle **

What are some ways you control Pre-mature aging?

GRWM: Style Week Fashion Block

Monday, May 25, 2015
Hi Guys!

I seems we are all on Holiday. For us in Jamaica it is the Labour Day Weekend and in America it's Memorial Weekend. Last Night was the final night of Style Week put on by Saint International and I decided to do a Get Ready with Me ( GRWM ). Big props to all the people who film get ready with me Videos as these pictures were challenging. You have to get ready earlier then take pictures to show each step. Below is what I came up with.

Make Up & Hair

I wanted to have a really nice , fresh and of course easy Night time look with the least amount of Products. I went for a Smoky Eye with Gold and Brown by using my New CID Laguna Palette from hairtrade.com. The Hair was also really simple ; sleek straight hair with a middle part. Kinda like a Kendall Jenner kinda vibe.

Accessories

Small diamond earrings with a DIY Statement Clutch inspired by Taylor Swifts "Bad Blood" Clutch at the Billboard Music Awards.

DRESS

This dress was rather interesting. It was a blush colored Midi Dress with cut-outs at the sides and back. Verrrrrrrrrrrrrry body specific with a gold metallic belt. The Dress was complimented by Nude Ankle Strap Heels.

Hopefully for my next Get Ready for me feature , it will be more detailed and fun!

How To Look Good in Photos

Sunday, May 24, 2015
Well Hello there and Happy Sunday to You!

Now , we live in the Digital Age where everybody and their Grandma is on some Social Media Platform or the other. I personally find it hard to take the right photo too many times and thought it would be fun to help all of us with the help of Picmonkey.com

Its all about Lighting: The best light is natural light! Get up , go outside and take that selfie. If you are inside , find the place in your room/house that has the best lighting. For me it's the bathroom , so that's where I take most of my Pictures. ** PLEASE ENSURE YOUR SURROUNDINGS ARE CLEAN**

Work Dem Angles: We all have a"Good Side". Its that side of your face that when the light hit, it's flawless and you just look really auhsome. Find your good side and work it.

Filters It: It's all about selecting the right Filter to set the mood for your Photos! If you are taking an Instagram Photo , pick the one that seems the most natural as I've seen the wrong filters used too many times and it makes the picture look ... off . There is no shame in using a filter .. that's why Instagram made them.

Edit Honey: Everybody edits their pictures ... whether you are a Kardashian ,Blogger or Banker people want to look flawless in Photos. Photoshop is a popular editing software that most people use , however, a) I don't have Photoshop b) I don't know how to use it. What I do have is Picmonkey. This is a free editing software where you can make your Pictures look amazing. This Program comes with basic editing tools where you can add really cool effects to your Photos. If you want more advanced editing Tools you can sign up and pay a low monthly fee and you get a number of features.
