The Interview

Thursday, April 30, 2015
I feel like I'm really honest in my interviews, to a fault. I've lost friends over it. Major friends. And I'm heartbroken about that.

The last time we spoke we got into "Things to do After University " now we'll be getting into the Interview. Below are a few tips to help you on your way.

DO NOT PAD YOUR RESUME: This will come back to haunt you in the Interview , If you know you are not fluent in Finnish .... you just aren't . Things and times have changed and people are looking for skills ( things you are good at ) rather than the amount of things written on a piece of paper.

BE COOL: People always get so nervous and completely mess everything up. You did not spend all those years in school to not even make it to the second interview. Think of an interview as a professional conversation; the goal is to leave an impression on the interviewer. Research questions you think would be asked then try to memorize those. I personally hate interviews because I always think the wrong questions are asked .

LOOK PRESENTABLE: I recommend asking what the Dress Code of the company is before going in. Try to have a look that is just right; not overdressed or under-dressed. Ensure your clothes have no wrinkles and stains and pleeassssssssssee bathe! Don't be that person when you sit down people leave the room. Ladies! don't go overkill on the Make-up .. less is more.

RESEARCH THE COMPANY: This is a no brainer but believe me it has to be said. Because of the way the economy is, people are applying to random jobs with hopes of landing at least one but have no idea what the company is about. If you are asked what you can bring to the Company it will be nothing because you know nothing about the Company.

#Setlife : King of the Dancehall

Wednesday, April 29, 2015
This is one of those "ramblings from my mind/experience post". So grab a little Snack and have a read.

Just yesterday I was on the set of the new Jamaican Film "King of the Dancehall" starring Nick Cannon , Busta Rhymes and some of Jamaica's most talented dancers. I've heard about the Movie through Social Media but! I had no idea what it was about ( still don't) . There I was working at home as I usually do when a phone call comes in to "see the set" ... sure I thought ... why not.

When I got to the location , it had completely transformed. Security at the gate was as "toight as a tiger", If you're not suppose to be there .. tough luck getting in. Next , were Tents , Buses , Trailers , Lights , Trucks ... just a lot of stuff and a lot of people. After observing my surrounding I saw a few people I knew ..walked around some more then bam! There was Nick Cannon ... that same guy I watched every Saturday Night on "All That " and "The Nick Cannon Show " ... you youngin's don't know about that Nickelodeon Life .. lol. I heard a familiar voice asking If I would like to meet Nick and his Manager. Sure I thought ... there he was .. just sitting like a normal person ... phone in hand and cool as ever. "Hi".

Then came the work ...lol . On set your role is everybody's role which could include helping with the Styling , Make-Up , Bring Water ( even if you are the Director ) and even making Sandwiches ( didn't know you could put Vinegar and Water on Lettuce ) If you plan on being on a Movie Set ... you betta work! No standing around like a Zombie or a Diva. There is also no Pictures on set! ( I did not know this )

I was able to snap this really bad picture form the "Bike Scene"....lol

The Takeaway

Being on the set of a Movie is different from being on the set of a Fashion Show in soooooo many ways . Fashion people are snappy while Movie set people are more cool and free-spirited and are just excited to show off their skills. I'm thinking this has a lot to do with the influence of "Mary Jane' & "Johnnie Walker" . You can tell how weak or strong a person is when they are under pressure.

I have no idea when the movie will be out but I will hopefully have more to share

Building your Spring Wardrobe

Tuesday, April 28, 2015
" There are lots of opinions about what every girl should have in her Wardrobe " - Lauren Conrad , STYLE.

In building any Wardrobe whether seasonal or regular there are certain key pieces you need. These Key pieces are usually Basics. These are things that makes a Wardrobe buildable; Think of a Blank Canvas where a Painter can create a Masterpiece by using Paints and of course Talent and Imagination. This Spring , all you need are 3 Key Pieces and you will be stylin'

A Romper

This is lightweight and its one piece! We all have those days when we are not about the 2 piece outfit life and just want something full and trendy yet functional to throw on and head out the Door. Find these in number of Prints , Patters and Colors. Under the Romper category is the "Play-suit", I personally can't see the difference between the 2 but this is another option.

Colored Shoes

Nothing says Springtime like a bright pair of Shoes. Your feet will be on fleek with Trendy brightly colored Shoes. A huge trend this season is the Laser Cut Bootie.

High-waisted Jeans

Add a Retro vibe to your wardrobe with some 70's inspired High Waisted Jeans. The 70's came .. and they gave us all their look back ( see what I did there ) Ladies , I know this might be a bit daunting especially when it comes to the fit , but I would say watch the placement of the pockets. They can either flatter you or make you appear larger.

Let me know what you think about these Key Pieces. What are the top 3 clothing items you need in your Spring Wardrobe?

Stephanie has been hinting for some time now on her social media pages about an album in the works, and it's true.

I work with some of the best producers on this album; Anil "Phantom" Montaque from Switzerland, Dennis Biello and Dan Grossman from the US, Ranoy Gordon, Delly Ranx, Rorey Baker, Michael Sean Harris and Stephen Maxwell. The visuals..oh the visuals will be off the chain, head turners..I'm excited" ......

Product Review : New CID-I Shadow Quad - Laguna

Monday, April 27, 2015
Today I will be reviewing the New CID I-Shadow Quad in Laguna. This Product retails for £ 17.99
on the website, down from RRP: £22.00.

Hairtrade.com is one of the UK's leading online retailers of
hair extensions
hair care and beauty products. They provide a wide range of hair extensions products and over 40 successful beauty, hair care and hair electrical brands. Every 3 months i am sent a product/s to review

PACKAGING

When I received this Product , I literally looked at it for a good 5 minutes. I would describe the Packaging as Sophisticated and Sleek. The Quad came in a white iridescent box ( shows a pearly look when reflected by light ) then the Quad itself was that same pearly white with silver around the sides.

THE REVIEW

The Product moves easily and gives you total control of the Product. If you are a beginner at Make-up this will work great for you as it easy to use and spreads easily. As with any Quad, it features 4 colors selected by Make-Up experts to create a multitude of looks.

Colors: Soft Blush , Silver , Ashy Gray ( with flecks of purple or maybe blue ) and a sort of rusty gray.
The Quad also comes with 2 small applicators. One is the usual double sided make-up applicator and the other features an angled brush and a smaller eye-liner brush which can be used in the tear duct or to line the eyes . The thing I liked the most about the colors is that they will fit a range of skin tones. There is a nice mixture of light colors and dark colors which can be easily mixed. The colors are shimmery rather than matte. If you are one of those girls who have a Cosmetics Bag in your Handbag , all you would need is this one quad.

PROS
- The Quad is easy to use
- Matches a Wide Range of Skin- Tones
- Sleek Design
- Lightweight

CONS
- Fall out is immense ( I would recommend using the Product wet or doing Eye-shadow first)
- Pricey

Final Thoughts
I would definitely without a doubt recommend the New CID I-Shadow Quad to a friend. It is a bit of an investment if you are on a tight budget. It is great for a person just starting out with Make-up simply because it's easy to use.

When to Throw out Make Up

Thursday, April 23, 2015
It is the day after Earth Day and while I believe Earth Day should be everyday , this post seems appropriate. We all wear some sort of Make-up whether it's a simple lip gloss or full coverage foundation they all have an expiration date.

Today, I will be telling you when it's time to "Trash your Stash".

EXPIRY DATE ON MAKE-UP IS INDICATED ON THE PRODUCT WITH AN ICON THAT LOOKS LIKE A CANISTER WITH A NUMERAL AND THE LETTER "M"

Foundation: If you look at the back of your foundation/s you will see most will last for 12- 24m ( 24 months ) This varies by Brand and Foundation types which includes : Liquid , Powder , Cream and so on.

Eye Pencils: These will last for 12m - 24m. Again by Brand .. as you can see in the Picture , the NYX JUMBO PENCIL lasts for 12m while the ICON PENCIL lasts for 24m. Pay close attention to eye products and their expiry dates as bacteria seems to love this area due to moisture.

Eye Shadows: If your eye-shadow becomes flaky or dry , its time to get new ones. They will last you up to 2 years

Lip Products: Ladies ! Do not share your lip products! In these times , one can never be too careful. Lip Sticks last for 2 years and Lip-gloss lasts for 1 year.

Bronzers & Blushes: These generally last up to 2 years and is similar in consistency to Eye Shadows.

Mascara: These only last 2-3 months. I know some of us like myself are quite resourceful and will add a few drops of water once we realize the product is all gone. If you must share Mascara use a disposable applicator.

For all other Products , check the original Packaging for the Icon or on the reverse side of the Product. It is not recommended to share make-up for hygienic purposes. Also clean your Make-up Brushes regularly.

Let me know if you throw out your Products when they expire or do stash them
