I am sure most of you who suffer from Adult Acne probably cringed when you read that title. For Day 2 of "Haute People Beauty Week" we will be going deep into the pores of Adult Acne!
According to WebMD, there are many reasons you get Adult Acne which could be caused by Stress , change in your hormone levels and of course poor diet choices. I find myself breaking out during the 28 mark ( yes , yes I'm that old ) before my period but the bumps would go down after and it would leave a few marks. I guess this is a form of Acne since it happens around the time of my period ( change in hormone level ) If you suffer from Adult Acne here a few ways you can either control or get rid of it:
- Change your diet: Consume more foods that are rich in protein and calcium instead of fatty oily foods that may clog your pores.
- Wash your face more than twice per day: It is recommended to wash your face twice daily; in the morning to prep your face for the day and in the evening to wash away all impurities and to allow your skin cells to repair. Be sure to follow with a moisturizer
- Use an intensive Acne Treatment: There are several over the counter Acne Medications you can get at most Pharmacies. Depending on the severity of your Acne , you can visit a Dermatologist for brands like Accutane which are super intensive. I've discovered an over the Counter solution called Acnevir which is an Adult Acne Redness Relief Product with Aloe.

Does Acnevir work?
Yes and Not .. to an extent. It is being branded as a 3 in 1 Medicated Gel that is suppose to clear acne pimples , reduces redness & prevent future breakouts. I really like that it is gentle on the skin unlike most Acne medications that bleach the skin which I hate! It contains No Benzoyl Peroxde , Alcohol Free , Non Oily , Non Comedogenic ,Non Bleaching and Non staining. I found that it was great as a spot treatment as the size of the pimple went down in a few hours then completely away within the next day. It did reduce the redness but it leaves the skin very dry which I would recommend following with a moisturizer or drinking more water.
I would recommend it to a friend who has a few hormonal breakouts but not full on Adult Acne
