The Interview

Thursday, April 30, 2015
I feel like I'm really honest in my interviews, to a fault. I've lost friends over it. Major friends. And I'm heartbroken about that.

The last time we spoke we got into "Things to do After University " now we'll be getting into the Interview. Below are a few tips to help you on your way.

DO NOT PAD YOUR RESUME: This will come back to haunt you in the Interview , If you know you are not fluent in Finnish .... you just aren't . Things and times have changed and people are looking for skills ( things you are good at ) rather than the amount of things written on a piece of paper.

BE COOL: People always get so nervous and completely mess everything up. You did not spend all those years in school to not even make it to the second interview. Think of an interview as a professional conversation; the goal is to leave an impression on the interviewer. Research questions you think would be asked then try to memorize those. I personally hate interviews because I always think the wrong questions are asked .

LOOK PRESENTABLE: I recommend asking what the Dress Code of the company is before going in. Try to have a look that is just right; not overdressed or under-dressed. Ensure your clothes have no wrinkles and stains and pleeassssssssssee bathe! Don't be that person when you sit down people leave the room. Ladies! don't go overkill on the Make-up .. less is more.

RESEARCH THE COMPANY: This is a no brainer but believe me it has to be said. Because of the way the economy is, people are applying to random jobs with hopes of landing at least one but have no idea what the company is about.  If you are asked what you can bring to the Company it will be nothing because you know nothing about the Company.
