#Setlife : King of the Dancehall

Wednesday, April 29, 2015
This is one of those "ramblings from my mind/experience post". So grab a little Snack and have a read.

Just yesterday I was on the set of the new Jamaican Film "King of the Dancehall" starring Nick Cannon , Busta Rhymes and some of Jamaica's most talented dancers. I've heard about the Movie through Social Media but! I had no idea what it was about ( still don't) . There I was working at home as I usually do when a phone call comes in to "see the set" ... sure I thought ... why not.

When I got to the location , it had completely transformed. Security at the gate was as "toight as a tiger", If you're not suppose to be there .. tough luck getting in. Next , were Tents , Buses , Trailers , Lights , Trucks ... just a lot of stuff and a lot of people. After observing my surrounding I saw a few people I knew ..walked around some more then bam! There was Nick Cannon ... that same guy I watched every Saturday Night on "All That " and "The Nick Cannon Show " ... you youngin's don't know about that Nickelodeon Life .. lol. I heard a familiar voice asking If I would like to meet Nick and his Manager. Sure I thought ... there he was .. just sitting like a normal person ... phone in hand and cool as ever. "Hi".

Then came the work ...lol . On set your role is everybody's role which could include helping with the Styling , Make-Up , Bring Water ( even if you are the Director ) and even making Sandwiches ( didn't know you could put Vinegar and Water on Lettuce ) If you plan on being on a Movie Set ... you betta work! No standing around like a Zombie or a Diva. There is also no Pictures on set! ( I did not know this )

I was able to snap this really bad picture form the "Bike Scene"....lol

The Takeaway

Being on the set of a Movie is different from being on the set of a Fashion Show in soooooo many ways . Fashion people are snappy while Movie set people are more cool and free-spirited and are just excited to show off their skills. I'm thinking this has a lot to do with the influence of "Mary Jane' & "Johnnie Walker" . You can tell how weak or strong a person is when they are under pressure.

I have no idea when the movie will be out but I will hopefully have more to share

  16. OK I just can't imagine Nick Cannon being the star of a King of the Dancehall movie. While I love Nick, he's really not 'dancehall' material. :) This reminds me of the that movie Dancehall Queen.
