Fan Week 2015 : Green Heat Protectors

Tuesday, March 24, 2015
Fan Question : Hi , where can I find Green Heat Protectors? I use Products that are safe for the Environment, Thanks

As Requested , today we'll be looking at Heat Protectors that are safe for the environment. Most Hair Sprays contain aerosol which is a spray or mist ( tiny particles ) that is bad for the environment. The chemicals in these are so strong , that a pressurized version was used during World War I to combat Malaria. Green refers to natural or organic rather than a color.

Below you can find a few Heat Protectors that are safer for the Environment and your hair.

GRAPESEED OIL: This is a natural oil that can be used as a heat protector and contains fewer Ingredients than traditional Heat Protectors. When used before flat ironing or blow drying curly hair , it leaves the hair silky straight.

ARGAN OIL: This Product is described as Liquid Gold can be used for Skin , Hair and Nails and contains Omega 3 and Vitamin E ( the hair vitamin ) and is an overall great Product to use. The great thing about this is that you can use it as a Pre-Treatment if you are not too big on heat. Your hair will feel and look so nourished that it won't need heat.

COCONUT OIL: Do not get the one that says "cooking oil". Get the pure/raw coconut oil or even the one that looks like froth in the cooking oil bottle.  I've actually used this before as a heat protector and it does work. The only thing I didn't like was the small .. I'm not too fond of Coconut Oil and its potent smell. This is another great product that has a number of uses. If you ever get stuck on a dessert Island , take Coconut Oil.

AVOCADO OIL: This is found in a lot of Garnier Fructis Products so that is a brand you can try , but don't go overkill! This is deemed as "Hair Sunscreen" , this is an interesting way to protect your Hair from Heat as it protects your hair from harmful UV rays from the Sun!  This can be mixed with Grapeseed Oil and Argan Oil to make your very own heat protector.

SHEA BUTTER: You've heard of this for skincare right? What if I told you this when used correctly gives the best Blowout! Once you get hooked to Shea Butter , it will make a big difference in your hair. Here's a plus .. it smells great!

For my Jamaican Readers , you can get all your natural Oils from any Health Stores like Proactive Lifestyle in Mall Plaza . Halfway Tree. There are a number of places online where you can also get these. Try Amazon.
