HairSay!!

Wednesday, July 4, 2012
HairSay is another new feature where i talk about hair tips , hair trends , hair care , hair accessories .. just hair!!!!

Today we will be talking about Types of WEAVE

A weave is human or synthetic hair, that i attached to real/natural hair. It is called a weave because of the process involved in "installing " it is actually "woven" tracks by using a special needle and thread , glue and other methods (see below).

                                       What tracks look like

Now , that you know what a weave is , I'll be talking about types of weave.  Generally , there are two types of weave . Human and Synthetic.

Human Hair

In certain parts of the world , women actually donate their hair , most commonly because of religious reasons. The women are known as "donors" . When they donate their hair , people associated with the hair manufacturing business , take this hair , process it , and combine them into "tracks". It is believe that Remi Human Hair is the highest grade of human hair , and is also the preferred  choice by hairstylists and "hairnistas" alike . Because of its high quality and demand , this is also one of the most expensive types of human hair. The cuticles are kept in tact and not stripped , therefore the extensions have a more natural appearance.  This process guarantees that the hair will always be soft and tangle free.

Synthetic Hair

Synthetic hair "appears " to resemble Human Hair . However , it is made from various types of plastic , which is why it has a "doll like hair" , shiny look. Many are  pre-styled meaning that there is no need for women to worry about trying to style this type of hair . Generally , this type of hair is cheaper and therefore worn and bought by more women ( well it depends on the country and lifestyle)

What is the  Difference between Synthetic and Human Hair

Hair extensions made from human hair can be dyed, heated (curled or straightened), styled, washed, and treated like your own natural hair. Hair extensions made from synthetic hair are sensitive to the sun, don’t last as long as human hair, are difficult to style, and cannot blend in as well with your real hair. Expect to pay anywhere from $60-$85 for Synthetic hair extensions, and anywhere from $100-$500 for human hair extensions.

Personally , i like Human Hair and I've found that Outre' and Premium are really good brands. I like them because they are of great quality and they match with my hair. I do have hair , but!!! i still wear a weave , the texture of my own hair is really thin and i like the way the weave makes my hair look "fuller".  Weave can also be worn as a form of "Protective Styling". Your own hair is of course treated before applying the weave , so that way it will be able to grow on it own without any harsh chemicals or even heat styling damaging it .  Which hair do you prefer ? And what is your favorite brand?
